Jace Holley and Hannah Puff sign on for Danny Sanchez's squad
BOULDER – While the Colorado soccer team is gearing up for Friday's NCAA Tournament matchup against Texas A&M, the team is also looking ahead to next season, adding two incoming freshmen on Wednesday's National Signing Day.
Head coach Danny Sanchez announced the commitments of Jace Holley (Fort Collins, Colo.) and Hannah Puff (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) for the start of the 2024 campaign.
Holley, a 5-9 midfielder, is a four-time letterwinner at Rocky Mountain High School. She has played in 37 matches and recorded 36 goals as a Lobo. She totaled 53 points (24 G, 5 A) in 17 games in her junior season and has led RMHS each year in goals and assists. Holley is a three-time First Team All-Conference selection and has also earned First Team Academic All-State Honors. She has played six seasons with Rapids ECNL, earning First Team All-Conference honors from 2021-23. Holley helped the Rapids to the national quarterfinals in 2021, the national finals in 2022 and the national semifinals in 2023. Holley also participated in the national team identification camps all six seasons with the Rapids and was on the traveling ODP team for years before joining the Rapids. Holley carries a four-star rating from Top Drawer Soccer and is the No. 8 player in the Rocky Mountain & Southwest region. She also ranks No. 84 in the IMG Academy 150.
"We feel that Jace is one of the top players coming out of Colorado in the 2024 class," Sanchez commented. "She is a dominant performer for her Colorado Rapids ECNL squad, which competes for a national championship every year. Jace is a very versatile attacking performer who can play anywhere in the midfield or up top. As important, she is an absolute competitor that will fit in perfectly in our soccer culture."
Puff, a 5-7 defender, is a three-time letterwinner at JSerra Catholic High School. She was a Second Team All-Trinity League selection as a sophomore. Puff earned the Scholar-Athlete Award and has been on the Dean's list every year at JSerra. She played at SC Blues and Slammers HBK and attended Youth National Team camps in 2019 and 2020. Puff has a three-star rating from TDS and is the No. 36 ranked player coming out of the Southern California region.
"Hannah is a very composed central defender, who also can play wide," Sanchez noted. "She has great athleticism and ability to read the game. She is really making strides in her game and developing. Hannah has played with SC Blues and is a part of the Slammers FC Hoge ECNL program. Slammers have produced numerous successful Buffs, and we feel she will fall right in line with the rest of them."
Holley and Puff will add to the impactful youth of the current Buffs roster. CU currently boasts eight freshmen and seven sophomores.
The Buffs will look to extend their season in College Station on Friday, taking on the Aggies (6 p.m. MT) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
