Rudy Named Offensive Player of the Week

BOULDER - Charlie Rudy has done it again. The fifth-year grad student notched seven goals against No. 20 USC and three against Arizona State to earn the Pac-12's Offensive Player of the Week award for the fifth time in her career and the second time this season.

Rudy's goals against USC elevated her into second place in Colorado's program for career goals. Prior to the weekend, the attacker had 169 goals and needed 173 to move into second. By the end of the weekend, she'd surpassed that milestone and achieved 179 goals.

Despite her stellar performance, Rudy commented that the weekend's games could have gone better for the Buffs as a whole.

"We didn't get the result we wanted on Friday against USC, but it was a great game for us to learn from which will only help us as the regular season wraps up and the tournament approaches," Rudy said. "Sunday we were able to come out and get a win against a good ASU team."

Rudy leads the Pac-12 in goals with 51 in addition to leading the conference in points with 61. In all of the NCAA, Rudy has risen to sixth in goals per game with 3.92.

Rudy has acquired a hat trick in 12 out of 13 games this season. Impressively, she's earned three goals in the first quarter in three different games, most recently hitting that mark in Friday's match-up against the Trojans.

Rudy said that she's focusing on taking the rest of the season one game at a time.

"Now we are turning our focus to prepare for two big games in California, working on the little things that make a big difference when playing teams for the second time," she stated.

Hopefully, we'll get to see the attacker score some more hat tricks in the process.
