Will help coach point guards and in recruiting

BOULDER — Colorado head coach JR Payne filled the vacancy on her coaching staff on Monday. Payne announced the addition of Taelor Karr as an assistant coach for the 2023-24 season.

"We are excited to have Taelor join our program," Payne stated. "She brings a wealth of experience as both a player and coach. When thinking about the most important qualities of a new coach, Taelor embodied everything that we were looking for. She's a fearless recruiter and a great player-development coach for our point guards. I love that Taelor will pour into our players to help them develop in every area of their lives. We are excited to hit the ground running."

Karr spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls went 21-12 last season and made the NCAA Tournament after missing out in 2022. The 2022-23 season was a big bounce-back season for OSU, which went 9-20 including a 55-45 loss to Colorado in 2021-22.

The Paola, Kan., native, spent five seasons as an assistant at Santa Clara before arriving in Stillwater. She was also a graduate assistant manager under Kelly Graves at Oregon.

Karr started her collegiate career at Kansas State. She played two years for the Wildcats and was named to the Academic All-Big 12 second team and was a two-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree.

She joined Graves in Gonzaga for her final two seasons in 2011-12 and 2012-13. She was the West Coast Conference Player of the Year and a First Team All-WCC selection as a senior, averaging 11.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game in her final season. Karr drained 69 3-pointers in her senior campaign, ranking fifth all-time in program history.

Karr played professionally in France for Dunkerque before venturing into coaching.

She replaces Tim Hays who left to become the head coach at Pepperdine.
