
Jones Joins Ballarat Miners

The former Buff is now playing in Australia
VICTORIA, Australia – Tayanna Jones wasted no time starting her professional basketball career, signing with the Ballarat Miners of the NBL1 in Central Highlands of Victoria, Australia, earlier this month.

Jones, who just wrapped up her third season as a Buffalo, averaged 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in Boulder. She had her best season at CU in 2022-23, averaging career-highs in both points (5.0) and rebounds (4.2). Jones started 32 of CU's 43 games last season, including all three NCAA Tournament games. In her three years, she scored 340 points and totaled 244 rebounds.

The Selma, N.C., native, matched her career-high of 15 points at Chicago State last season. She snagged a CU-high nine rebounds in CU's win over No. 14/10 Arizona. Jones was granted a fifth year due to COVID-19 and spent the 2022-23 season working on her master's in organizational leadership.Â

Jones played her first two collegiate seasons at Georgetown, where she played 38 games and averaged 4.4 points per game. She wrapped up her five-year collegiate career with 506 total points, 342 rebounds, 61 steals and 44 blocks.

Jones made her Miners debut on May 6 and led the team with 26 points and 15 rebounds in a loss to the Diamond Valley Eagles. Jones has played in four games for Ballarat, averaging 22.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

Ballarat is 1-10 on the season with its next game set for May 27 against the Casey Cavaliers.
