#NFLBuffs Set for 2023-24 NFL Season

September 07, 2023 | Football

BOULDER – With the 2023 NFL Season kicking off tonight in Kansas City, 11 former Colorado Buffalo football players have either made an NFL team's 53-man roster or practice squad entering the year.

There are currently seven former Buffs on 53-man rosters, with the other four making the practice squad for their respective teams.

Here's a closer look at the 11 players who are on an NFL roster to start the season:

  • Daniel Arias: After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft, Arias was signed to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad on September 1st.

  • Chidobe Awuzie: Entering his seventh season in the league, Awuzie is coming off a year with the Bengals after yet another deep playoff run and will once again get the chance to show off his skills on the outside for a premier team in the NFL.

  • David Bakhtiari: An All-Pro lineman and 10-year vet for the Green Bay Packers, Bakhtiari enters the 2023-24 season protecting the blindside of Jordan Love, and not Aaron Rodgers.

  • Arlington Hambright: Hambright joins fellow Buff Juwann Winfree in Indianapolis on the practice squad for the second straight year.

  • Nate Landman: Signing as an undrafted free agent after the 2022 NFL draft, Landman signed with the Atlanta Falcons and appeared in seven games during the 2022 season. He heads into this year on the 53-man roster.

  • Isaiah Oliver: The 2018 second-round product enters his sixth season in the NFL, and his first with the San Francisco 49ers. Coming off the 2022 season where he recorded his second career interception, Oliver will look to continue his success with his new squad.

  • Brady Russell: Russell enters his first NFL season after going undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft, he was signed to the Eagles practice squad on August 30th.

  • Laviska Shenault: The former Buff standout will enter his second year with the Panthers and fourth in the NFL. Shenault will look to build chemistry with rookie quarterback Bryce Young.

  • Josh Tupou: Tupou heads into his sixth season, all with the Bengals, after playing in 11 games and starting in six of them. He recorded two sacks during last season, the first two of his career.

  • Juwann Winfree: Winfree enters his fifth season in the NFL and will head into this season as an Indianapolis Colt. Originally drafted by the Broncos in 2019 and spending the last three seasons in Green Bay, the former Buff will look to impress in Indy.

  • Ahkello Witherspoon: Spending his first six seasons with San Francisco, Seattle, and Pittsburgh, Witherspoon heads to LA to spend the 2023-24 season with the Rams.
