Colorado to play 11-game preseason schedule
BOULDER – Head coach JR Payne and the Colorado women's basketball team announced an 11-game non-conference schedule on Thursday.
The Buffaloes had already announced its season opener against the defending national champion LSU Tigers (Nov. 6) in Las Vegas, as part of the 2023 Hall of Fame Series, along with three games against Cincinnati, Kentucky and NC State at the Paradise Jam (Nov. 23-25) in the US Virgin Islands.
"I'm unbelievably excited about this year's preseason schedule," Payne stated. "We have several Power 5 opponents, conference champions and high overall net rankings. I believe this schedule will prepare us very well for the rigors of the Pac-12. We will be challenged with various styles of play and some challenging environments."
The Buffs will be back in Boulder following the opener against LSU, taking on Division I newcomer Le Moyne (Nov.8) and future Big 12 rival Oklahoma State (Nov. 12). The rest of the home slate includes a pair of first-time opponents in Boston University (Nov. 28) and UT Arlington (Dec. 5). Northern Colorado rounds out the preseason on Dec. 21.
The Buffs only have two true away contests in the non-conference season. The team will make its first trip down to Dallas to take on SMU. The Buffs and Mustangs have met on three previous occasions, all at the CU Events Center. CU will head down I-25 to the Air Force Academy on Dec. 2.
Additionally, the Buffs will host an exhibition game against Adams State on Oct. 28.
