CHICAGO – Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Nytes was one of 24 players selected to Tracey Kevins' U.S. Under-20 Women's Youth National Team training camp set for Jan. 15-22 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif.
The camp marks the first steps toward the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, to be held in Colombia in September, for which the USA qualified last June at the Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship in the Dominican Republic.
Nytes also attended the U-20 training camp last April ahead of the 2023 Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship.
"Jordi had a fantastic fall season, helping lead us to an NCAA Tournament bid," Colorado head coach Danny Sanchez commented. "We are very pleased she is being recognized by being called into another camp with U.S. Soccer."
The Aurora, Colo., native, started all 21 games for Colorado in her first season as a Buff. She was the goalie of record in all 21 games for CU, posting a 13-5-3 record. The 13 wins marked the seventh most by a CU goalkeeper. Nytes recorded eight shutouts last season with a .860 goals against average and a .802 save %. Her eight shutouts ranked third in the Pac-12 and were the most solo shutouts by a CU keeper since Jalen Tompkins' eight in 2019.
Nytes finished ranked No. 42 overall in Top Drawer Soccer's Top 100 for the season. The 2022 Co-Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Year finished posted back-to-back 10-win seasons, having gone 10-3-2 her freshman year at Oklahoma State. Nytes was the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week and the TDS Player of the Week following back-to-back shutouts over Colorado College and No. 14 Michigan State.
The CU netminder was one of three goalkeepers named to the roster along with Penn State's Mackenzie Gress and Cal's Teagan Wy.
Colorado's Juliauna Hayward was also invited to the camp but is unable to attend due to injury.
