BOULDER – Colorado's Jordan Nytes and Rachel Rosen earned Academic All-District as announced by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-American ballot. First, Second and Third-Team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on December 11.
In order to be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches or start in at least 66 percent of the matches. Additionally, each student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA). Graduate student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both undergraduate and graduate students.
Nytes, a native of Aurora, Colo., has been in net for all 11 of Colorado's shutouts this season, ranking second in the Big 12 and sixth in the NCAA. Her 11 clean sheets are tied for the second-most in a season by a CU keeper. The 2024 Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Year, she took home five Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week awards throughout the season, becoming the most honored goalkeeper in a season since the award's inception in 2020. Nytes set the program record for consecutive shutout minutes, posting a streak of 583:33 minutes of scoreless soccer. Her .832 save % leads the Big 12 this season, and she is fourth in the conference with 94 saves. Nytes was also a 2023 Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll honoree.
Rosen, a native of Hermosa Beach, Calif., earns her second All-District honor. She's a three-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll honoree and helped captain the Buffs to a 12-4-5 record and a second straight NCAA Tournament appearance this season. Rosen contributed defensively in all 11 of CU's shutouts this season. She has started 16 of CU's 21 matches this season and played 1,267 minutes.
