Jordan, Bolles Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

Sophomore outside hitter Sydney Jordan and sophomore defensive specialist/libero Avery Bolles were selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team
BOULDER – Colorado volleyball sophomore outside hitter Sydney Jordan (Missouri City, Texas) and sophomore defensive specialist/libero Avery Bolles (Andover, Minn.) were named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, CSC announced on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
The 2024 Academic All-District Volleyball teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. All-District honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater at the time of nomination, and they are required to have competed in 90 percent of matches or have started in at least 66 percent of total matches. Academic All-District honorees were also considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
Jordan and Bolles' selections mark the third year in a row that Colorado volleyball athletes have been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team -- with Maya Tabron, Morgan Riddle and Emma Torstenson (Northfield, Minn.) selected in 2023, and Meegan Hart and Sterling Parker in 2022.
Jordan, majoring in Marketing in the CU Leeds School of Business, started in 29 matches for the Buffs and played in all 30 competitions in the 2024 season. She was second on the team for total kills, finishing the season with 279 and averaging 2.41 kills per set. As a six-rotation player, she was second on the team in digs, ending the 2024 season with 234 total, averaging 2.02 digs per set and recording double-digit digs eight times. Jordan achieved a career-high 18 kills against UCF (Oct. 13), a career-high in digs with 16 at Arizona (Oct. 16) and recorded six double-doubles in the 2024 season.
Bolles, majoring in Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences in CU's College of Arts and Sciences, started in two matches and saw action in all 30 competitions for the Buffs this season. She finished the season with 155 digs (fifth on the team), averaging 1.37 digs per set and picking up double-digit digs six times. Bolles had a career-high 12 digs in back-to-back games against Cal and Wyoming (Sept. 14 and 15). She also came in second on the team for aces with 35 on the season, bringing her career total to 87 after registering a record-setting 52 in her freshman season.
In the Big 12 conference, 41 athletes were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team; four each from Baylor Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State and Utah; three from Arizona State; and two each from BYU, Colorado, TCU, Texas Tech and West Virginia.
Under ninth-year head coach Jesse Mahoney, Colorado finished the 2024 season 13-17 and went 6-12 against Big 12 opponents. Coach Mahoney has led the Buffs to a 141-126 (.528) record in his nine seasons at the helm. The Buffs registered five dominant sweeps in the 2024 season, including victories over Cincinnati (Nov. 9) and Kansas State on senior night (Nov. 27). CU also played in nine five-set matches in 2024, seeing victories over six teams and three five-set victories in a row in October – against Texas Tech on Oct. 5, at UCF on Oct. 13 and at Arizona on Oct. 16.
