Buffs United: Support CU Student-Athletes by Giving to the CU Buff Club

December 20, 2024 | Football, General, Buff Club

A Letter from CU Athletic Director Rick George:

Buff Nation,

During the holidays, I find myself looking back at the past year and this year in particular has been one of the most special in my entire career.  Last week, Travis Hunter claimed the iconic Heisman Trophy, carrying on the legacy set by our last Heisman Trophy winner, the late, great Rashaan Salaam. What a thrill it was to be in New York City to see Travis get this well-deserved honor and his acceptance speech will serve as an inspiration for all of us for years to come. I hope you'll join us on Saturday when we'll celebrate Travis, the Heisman Trophy, and the entire 2024 football team at the men's basketball game vs. Bellarmine. Tickets are on sale now!

Meanwhile, our football student-athletes are preparing for the Valero Alamo Bowl, and our men's and women's basketball teams are gearing up for conference play after strong non-conference performances. This is truly a great time to be a Buff and I look forward to sharing even more exciting times with you in the weeks and months to come.

Holiday Giving To The Buff Club

The holiday season also means charitable giving and I urge you to give to CU Athletics in order to keep this incredible momentum going.  If you are interested in supporting CU Athletics, our programs, our initiatives, and most importantly, our student-athletes, the one and only place to give is the CU Buff Club. With the House Settlement expected to be finalized in April and taking effect as early as July 1, now is the time to create the foundation that will enable us to compete when student-athlete revenue sharing is in place next year.

As you know, all of us in the CU Athletic Department prides ourselves on being proactive rather than reactive, and preparations must start now to help us prepare for future realities created by the settlement. NIL is a vital part of collegiate athletics and we're taking steps to fundamentally change our NIL operation in order to meet the needs we'll face next summer when revenue sharing starts. That's why giving to the Buff Club now is essential. It's also essential for businesses to join the Buffs NIL Exchange to explore ways in which the powerful brands of our student-athletes can work for them.  In order to maintain and exceed the great results on the field and in the classroom we've seen this fall, we need the support of all Buffs now.

This time of year I also find myself filled with gratitude for our amazing student-athletes, our tireless coaches, our dedicated staff, and you, the incredible Buff Nation. I know with you behind us, 2025 will be our best year ever. As always, thank you for your tremendous support.

Together, we are truly Buffs United!

From my family to yours, Happy Holidays and Go Buffs!
Rick
