Sherrod Added to Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Midseason Team

BOULDER – Colorado point guard Jaylyn Sherrod was one of 30 players named to the 2024 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Midseason Team on Tuesday.
Sherrod was one of nine players from the Pac-12 to be included in the latest cutdown.
She is averaging 12.9 points and 4.5 assists this season. Sherrod has had five or more assists in nine games this season, including a career-high 13 in the Buffs' win over UT Arlington. She became the fourth Buff in program history to have over 1,000 career points (1,357) and 500 career assists (582).
The Birmingham, Ala., native, is sixth in the Pac-12 with 4.5 assists per game and is fifth in the league with 109 assists this season. She scored a career-high 34 points on a career-best 13 made baskets to go with six steals, four rebounds, four assists and just one turnover in Colorado's win over then-No. 12 Utah. Following the win, she earned Player of the Week honors from ESPN, the Associated Press, the US Basketball Writers Association and was the Pac-12 Player of the Week.
Sherrod has been crucial for the Buffs in the team's eight games against ranked opponents this season. She leads Colorado with 19.1 points per game and is second on the team with 2.9 assists in those eight games. Sherrod is shooting 45.1% (51-113) from the field and has 21 total steals against top 25 opponents. She has scored in double figures in all eight games with six games totaling 15 or more points.
Colorado will add three more ranked teams to its resume in the next two weeks, starting with No. 22 Utah on Friday (6 p.m. MT).
