Sherrod Lands on Drysdale Player of the Year and USBWA All-America Watch Lists

One of eight Pac-12 Players named on Tuesday
BOULDER – Colorado point guard Jaylyn Sherrod was one of 40 players named to the 2024 Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Year and All-America Watch Lists by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Tuesday.Â
The 40 honored players for Ann Meyers Drysdale Award and All-America consideration will be placed on the association's annual awards ballot, which will be distributed to members today.Â

Sherrod was one of eight players from the Pac-12 to be included on the list.

She leads the Buffs with 17.2 points and is second with 3.8 assists this season in 11 games against ranked opponents. She scored a career-high 34 points on a career-best 13 made baskets to go with six steals, four rebounds, four assists and just one turnover in Colorado's win over then-No. 12 Utah. Following the win, she earned Player of the Week honors from ESPN, the Associated Press, the US Basketball Writers Association and was the Pac-12 Player of the Week.

Sherrod is shooting 45.7 % (64-140) from the field and has 29 total steals against top 25 opponents. She has scored in double figures in all 11 games, totaling seven games of 15 or more points.

Overall this season, Sherrod is averaging career-bests in points per game (12.8) and field goal % (46.0).

The Birmingham, Ala., native, is sixth in the Pac-12 with 4.7 assists per game and is fourth in the league with 128 assists this season. Sherrod has had five or more assists in 11 games this season, including a career-high 13 in the Buffs' win over UT Arlington. With four assists at UCLA, she became the third Buff in program history to have over 1,000 career points (1,393) and 600 career assists (601).
The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award winner is to be announced at the NCAA Women's Final Four in Cleveland, from April 7-9. The formal presentation of the trophy will follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

Colorado closed out the regular season this week with Washington (Thursday) and Washington State (Saturday).
