Sherrod Named Regional Finalist for WBCA Coaches’ All-America

One of 52 finalists
BOULDER – Colorado graduate point guard Jaylyn Sherrod has been named a finalist in Region 5 for the 2024 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America team the organization announced on Tuesday.
The list was narrowed down to 52 finalists out of the WBCA's five regions. The 10-member WBCA Coaches' All-America team be announced on April 4.
Recently tabbed as an AP honorable mention All-American, Sherrod has helped the Buffaloes to a 24-9 record and a second consecutive trip to the Sweet 16.
Sherrod has left her stamp on the program in her final year in Boulder. She earned her second All-Pac-12 and third Pac-12 All-Defensive Team selections. She is averaging a career-high 12.9 points per game this season and is five assists (162) from matching her career-high.
The Birmingham, Ala., native, scored a career-high 34 points against then-No. 12 Utah (Dec. 30) and handed out a career-high 13 assists (Dec. 5). Her eight rebounds in the season-opener against then-No. 1 LSU (Nov. 6) tied her career-best on the boards. She has had 10 or more points in 21 games and five or more assists in 15 games this season.
This season, she has embraced the spotlight, shining the brightest against ranked opponents. Sherrod is averaging 17.0 points, 4.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.6 steals in 13 games against top 25 teams. She has scored in double figures in 12 of the 13 games and is shooting 43.8% from the field.
The 2024 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year became CU's all-time leader in starts this season and is two games shy of tying Mya Hollingshed for the most games played in program history. Sherrod also became just the third player in CU history to have over 1,000 points (1474) and 600 assists (635). She sits second all-time in assists behind Kennedy Leonard's 664.
