Wet Conditions End Juli Inkster Invitational After Two Rounds

March 05, 2024 | Women's Golf

FAIRFAX, Calif. — Rain and wet grounds suspended the third and final round of the 2024 Juli Inkster Invitational at the Meadow Club Golf Course on Tuesday.

As conditions continued to deteriorate through out the day, the tournament was called late Tuesday afternoon, leaving the 36-holes played on Monday as the official record, which put the Buffaloes in 11th place overall at 14-over 590.

Top-ranked Stanford won the Juli Inkster Invitational at 13-under 563. No. 40 Washington was third at 10-under 566 followed by No. 8 USC in in third at 6-under 570.

The 6,157-yard Meadow Club was saturated by wet weather in the Bay Area over the weekend and didn't improve for the start of the tournament. By Tuesday afternoon puddles of water were gathering on some of the greens and the tournament was called with three-to-four holes left to play.

The cancelation was unfortunate because despite the conditions, Colorado was having a pretty good round. Freshman Francesca Sumcad was at 3-under when play was called. Sophomore Morgan Miller was putting together another steady outing, shooting around even par. Junior Maria Eidhagen Harrouch was on pace for her best round of the tournament at 2-over heading down the stretch.

"It was a real disappointment to have the round canceled as our team was moving up and we had several players scoring well despite very tough conditions," Colorado head coach Anne Kelly said. "Franky, Morgan, Maria, all good scores on a cold, rainy, breezy day. They played hard today. I feel bad for our players, but that's golf and we will take away a lot of positives from this event."

Miller's 1-under 143 through 36 holes on Monday earned her Colorado's top finish for the fifth time this season. She tied for 12th overall to record her fifth top 20 finish in 2023-24.

Graduate senior Sabrina Iqbal and senior Hailey Schalk tied for 33rd at 4-over 148. Sumcad tied for 59th at 10-over 154 while Eidhagen Harrouch tied for 62nd at 12-over 156.

Oregon State's Kyra Ly and Washington's Camille Boyd shared medalist honors at 8-under 136.

Colorado will continue the Spring season in three weeks with the PING/ASU Invitational, March 28-30, at the Papago Golf Course, in Phoenix.
