2024-25 Slate Set for Colorado Women’s Hoops

BOULDER — The 2024-25 Colorado women's basketball schedule was made official by head coach JR Payne alongside the Big 12 Conference's schedule release on Thursday.

Colorado has a 29-game slate that features 16 games at the CU Events Center. The Buffs will play 11 non-conference games and 18 conference games in their first season back in the Big 12.

"We are very excited about the upcoming season and this year's team," Payne commented. "With many new faces and our rejoining of the Big 12 Conference, this will be an unbelievably exciting year! Our schedule will challenge us with various styles of play and push us to compete on the road as well."

The first chance to catch the Buffs in action will be in exhibition play against Colorado Mines on Oct. 27. The regular season will get underway with a Nov. 4 visit to Wyoming. Colorado's home opener will be three days later, on Nov. 7, against Northern Colorado.

Three of CU's first four games will be on the road with stops at Boise State (Nov. 10) and Nevada at the Tahoe Blue Event Center in Statesville, Nev. (Nov. 12). The Buffs will return home for a two-game stretch against Southern (Nov. 17) and Utah State (Nov. 19), before heading back on the road to Utah Tech (Nov. 27). November comes to a close with a marquee matchup against Louisville in Boulder on Nov. 30.

The non-conference schedule wraps up with a trio of home games against Tennessee Tech (Dec. 3), Southern Utah (Dec. 7), and Denver (Dec. 10).

All 18 of CU's Big 12 games will be Wednesday-Saturday matchups, a change from the Pac-12's Friday-Sunday slate. Teams will play three opponents home and away while facing six teams only at home and six opponents only on the road for a total of 18 Conference games. Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness.

The Buffs' reintroduction to the Big 12 starts on Dec. 21 when West Virginia makes its inaugural visit to Boulder. CU's first road trip in the conference starts with a New Year's Day meeting with TCU, followed by its first visit to Baylor (Nov. 4), since Feb. 6, 2010.

The remainder of Colorado's home schedule features games against UCF (Jan. 8), Kansas (Jan. 11), Kansas State (Jan. 25), Texas Tech (Feb. 1), Arizona (Feb. 5), Houston (Feb. 15), Baylor (Feb. 19) and Arizona State (Feb. 26).

CU will make its first visits to West Virginia (Jan. 15) and Cincinnati (Jan. 18). The remaining road games include visits to BYU (Jan. 29), Iowa State (Feb. 8), Utah (Feb. 12), Oklahoma State (Feb. 22) and Texas Tech (Mar. 1).

The 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship is set for Mar. 5-10 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.
