Buffs Continue At Northwestern Tournament

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Colorado Buffaloes tennis team wrapped up day two at the Northwestern Tournament Saturday morning at the Combe Tennis Center.
Colorado took on the host of the tournament Northwestern in three doubles matches and six singles matches.Â
Starting the day in doubles, the No. 21 ranked duo of Ema Bubalo and Anya Nelson continue their impressive season with a 6-4 win over Northwestern's Mika Dagan Fruchtman and Brittany Lau.
The two remaining doubles matches went in the Wildcats' favor, with Aya El Sayed and Mila Stanojevic falling 6-4 and Lera Alexin and Pia Rebec falling 6-1.
In singles, the Buffs split with the Wildcats each winning three matches. The first win came from Stanojevic who after winning the first set 6-4, cruised in the second set 6-1.
Rebec added another singles win for the Buffs with a dominating 6-1, 6-2 win over Maia Loureiro.
Alexin who captured the final singles win of the day quickly took the first set 6-3 over Northwestern's Erica Jessel. In the second set, Alexin pulled away late in a tiebreaker to win 7-6 (2).

The Buffs wrap up the first weekend of the 2025 season tomorrow on the final day of the Northwestern Tournament taking on Notre Dame at 8 a.m. at the Combe Tennis Center.
