Colorado To Unveil Men’s Basketball Wall Of Honor

BOULDER – The University of Colorado men's basketball program has had its fair share of iconic figures throughout 120-plus years of history. A new display at the CU Events Center will honor a select group who's on the court achievements have expanded well beyond their days in Boulder.
 
The Men's Basketball Wall of Honor will celebrate those former Buffaloes that have achieved at least five years of service in the NBA or competed on the world stage as an Olympic Gold Medalist. The initial 10 legends to be honored are:
  • Chauncey Billups (1995-97)
  • Alec Burks (2009-11)
  • Jim Davis (1961-64)
  • Spencer Dinwiddie (2011-14)
  • Burdette "Burdie" Haldorson (1951-55)
  • Jay Humphries (1980-84)
  • Cliff Meely (1968-71)
  • Andre Roberson (2010-13)
  • Scott Wedman (1971-74)
  • Derrick White (2016-17)
The honorees will have their Colorado jersey displayed high above the concourse on the northwest corner of the CU Events Center. Wall of Honor members will be recognized in person with their jerseys officially unveiled at upcoming games.
 
"The Wall of Honor is long overdue and serves as a testament to the success of men's basketball players after they leave the University of Colorado," head coach Tad Boyle said. "The foundation of their success was established here as student-athletes and we're proud to honor their success in basketball after Colorado."
 
On Tuesday, Jan. 28, during Colorado's game against Arizona State, Haldorson, Meely and Davis will be the first Wall of Honor members to be recognized. Humphries will be celebrated at Colorado's game with Houston on Saturday, Feb. 8. The schedule for the remaining honorees will be announced at a later date.

Chauncey Billups: Colorado All-American and first team All-Big 12 in 1996-97, leading the Buffaloes to the 1997 NCAA Tournament … Played 17 seasons in the NBA with seven different organizations (Boston, Toronto, Denver, Minnesota, Detroit, New York, L.A. Clippers) … Career NBA averages of 15.2 points, 5.4 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game … 2004 NBA Champion and NBA Finals MVP with Detroit … Five-time NBA All-Star … All-NBA Second Team (2006) … Two-time All-NBA Third Team (2007, '09) … Two-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2005, '06) … 2024 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame … Head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers.
 
Alec Burks: All-Big 12 First Team in 2010-11 … 2009-10 Big 12 Freshman of the Year and member of the All-Rookie Team … In his 14th NBA season, currently with the Miami Heat … Selected by Utah with the 12th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and has played with eight different organizations (Utah, Cleveland, Sacramento, Golden State, Philadelphia, New York, Detroit, Miami) … Fourth-most game played in the NBA by a former Buff.
 
Jim Davis: Two-time All-Big 8 Conference … Led Colorado to back-to-back Big 8 titles in 1961-62 and '62-63 along with two NCAA Tournament appearances … Scored 1,110 career points and had a career record of 147-89 (.623) … Fourth round selection by Detroit in the 1964 NBA Draft, but the 27th player overall in a 9-team league at the time ... Played eight seasons in the NBA for three different organizations, St. Louis/Atlanta, Houston and Detroit … Passed away on Dec. 27, 2018 at the age of 77.
 
Spencer Dinwiddie: Led Colorado to three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2012 Pac-12 Tournament championship … 2012-13 All-Pac-12 Conference First Team … 2011-12 Pac-12 All-Freshman Team … In his 11th NBA season, currently with Dallas … Selected by Detroit in the 2014 NBA Draft in the second round with the 38th overall pick and has played for five organizations (Detroit, Brooklyn, Washington, Dallas, L.A. Lakers).
 
Burdette "Burdie" Haldorson: Colorado All-American, led the Buffaloes to the 1955 Final Four and Big Seven Conference titles … One of two officially retired jerseys (22) … Two-time U.S. Olympian winning Gold Medals in 1956 and '60 … Member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame along with that legendary 1960 Olympic team … The No. 23 overall pick in the 1955 NBA Draft by St. Louis but opted to play in the National Industrial Basketball League as a member of the Phillips 66ers … 2012 Pac-12 Hall of Honor inductee … Passed away on Oct. 13, 2023, at the age of 89.
 
Jay Humphries: Two-time All-Big Eight Conference pick, earning first team honors as a senior (1983-84) and second team as a junior (1982-83) … Colorado's all-time leader in steals and is second in assists … Played 11 years in the NBA for four organizations (Phoenix, Milwaukee, Utah and Boston) … Selected by Phoenix with the 13th overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft … Averaged 11.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists during his NBA career … Played in 788 career games, third most by a Buffalo.
 
Cliff Meely: Colorado First Team All-American as a senior in 1970-71 … Two-time Big Eight Player of the Year (1968-69, '70-71) … Led the Buffaloes to the 1968-69 Big Eight title and NCAA Tournament … Three-Time All-Big Eight performer, set 16 Colorado and eight Big Eight Conference records … One of two officially retired jerseys (20) … The No. 7 overall pick by the San Diego Clippers in 1971, he played six years in the NBA with Houston and the Los Angeles Lakers … Passed away on May 28, 2013, at the age of 65.
 
Andre Roberson:  2012-13 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year … Two-time All-Pac-12 First Team (2011-12, '12-13) … Led the Buffaloes to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments and the 2012 Pac-12 Tournament championship … Selected by Minnesota with the 26th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft before being traded to Oklahoma City … Played seven NBA seasons, six with Oklahoma City and one with Brooklyn … Helped Oklahoma City the 2016 Western Conference Finals … 2016-17 NBA All-Defensive Second Team.
 
Scott Wedman: Two-time All-Big Eight First Team selection (1972-73, '73-74) … Played 13 seasons in the NBA with three organizations (Kansas City, Cleveland, Boston) … Won a pair of NBA titles with the Celtics in 1983-84 and '85-86 … Earned NBA All-Defensive Second Team honors in 1979-80 with the Kings … Averaged 13.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists over 906 career games, the second most played by a Buffalo.
 
Derrick White: 2016-17 All-Pac-12 First Team and All-Defensive Team … In his eighth NBA season, currently with Boston … Helped the Celtics to the 2023-24 NBA Championship … Averaged 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.2 blocks during that Celtics championship season … Two-time NBA All-Defensive Team … Selected by San Antonio in the first round with the 29… 2024 Olympic Gold Medalist with USA Basketball.
