Van der Werff and Alexin continue their fight toward a top finish in doubles competition

PROVO, Utah – The Colorado Buffalo women's tennis team finished out day three at the ITA Mountain Regional Champion this Thursday, with one duo still alive in the main bracket.

With a round of doubles quarterfinals and singles round of 32, Colorado will drop to the consolation rounds excluding the duo of Rixt van der Werff and Lera Alexin.

In doubles competition, first-seeded Ema Bubalo and Anya Nelson faced Schraeder and Matthews of Indiana, falling short of advancing against the duo, 8-4.

Van der Werff and Alexin followed with their match up against BYU's Lewis and Mohamed, finding leverage and securing their fourth victory of the tournament. The pair will face second-seeded Grace Levelston and Kendall Kovick of BYU in Friday's semifinal match up.

In singles competition, three Buffs fell short of advancing to the round of 16 – Pia Rebec, Heidi Crncan, and Anya Nelson will continue their fight in the consolation rounds.
