Miller Hitting His Stride
November 14, 2025 | Football
BOULDER — Colorado junior Omarion Miller has been riding a roller coaster during his tenure with the Buffaloes. He's been through the ups and downs not only as a team, but also individually. But if his last few weeks are any indication, that ride might even out, and that's a good thing for all involved.
Miller was a four-star prospect and was the No. 9 player out of his recruiting class from Louisiana when he walked onto campus as a freshman in 2023. He played in 10 games his freshman season, but didn't record a catch until the Buffs' fifth game of the season.
The 6-2 wide receiver, playing in just his third career game, hauled in seven receptions for 196 yards and one touchdown in the Buffs' 48-41 loss to USC. Miller's TD catch came on a 4th-and-5 from inside the USC 10-yard line and was one of two thrown by quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the fourth quarter.
Miller was rewarded for his breakout game against the Trojans, picking up Pac-12 Player of the Week honors, but he was limited to only four more catches the rest of the season.
His first catch as a sophomore last season was a 58-yard score to end the first half against Baylor. Two games later, against Kansas State, he finished with eight receptions and 145 yards. However, following the high point against KSU came another low. Miller was forced to miss the final seven games of the season due to injury.
Now, back and healthy in 2025, Miller has been one of the most consistent pieces of the Buffs' chaotic ride this season.
"It feels good," Miller noted about his productivity this season. "I wouldn't say I played a full season, but partially a full season. My freshman year not being able to play as much with the guys in front of me and me getting hurt in my second year. This year, being able to play a lot more and produce feels good."
Miller has more catches (33) in CU's eight games this season than he had in his previous two seasons combined (21). He leads the Buffs with seven touchdown catches this season, hauling in scores from two different signal callers.
He was freshman quarterback Julian Lewis' favorite target last week at West Virginia, making six catches on eight targets for a season-high 131 yards. It was his first 100-yard game of the season and third of his career.
In his last two games, with two different quarterbacks, Miller has recorded 11 receptions for 232 yards and three touchdowns. Over the last five games, he has secured 23 receptions for 452 yards and six scores.
"I have a good relationship with all the quarterbacks," Miller explained. "Me and Juju [Lewis], we play a lot. We play around, always talking a lot, even when it was Kaidon's [Salter] turn. I'll come to the sideline and he'll tell me what he sees and what's going on. We have a good relationship and he's coming along really well."
Miller has surpassed the 1,000 career yard mark this season, now with 55 career catches for 1,102 yards and nine touchdowns. He's just the 60th player in CU history with 55 career catches, averaging 20.0 yards per catch, a mark that currently ranks second in program history.
Colorado (3-7, 1-6 Big 12) had its Bowl Game aspirations erased with last week's loss at WVU, but Miller and the Buffs still have a lot left to prove in 2025.
"We are playing for pride," Miller stated. "Win, lose, or draw, no matter what, we're still fighting. That's our role in the wide receiver room. We're not going to quit. We're going to play to the end."
Miller and the Buffs will be back in action at Folsom Field on Nov. 22, taking on Arizona State. Kickoff will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 16.
