Colorado Volleyball Earns 22nd NCAA Tournament Berth

The Buffs will face American in the first round on Thursday, Dec. 4 in Bloomington, Ind.
BOULDER – The Colorado volleyball team (22-8, 12-6 Big 12) was awarded one of the 33 at-large berths into the 2025 NCAA tournament and will make its 22nd appearance in the national tourney, the NCAA selection committee announced on Sunday, Nov. 30.
The Buffs received the fifth seed in the Texas quarter of the bracket and will face Patriot League regular-season and tournament champion American (24-4, 15-1 Patriot League) in a first-round match on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. ET (1 p.m. MT) at Wilkinson Hall in Bloomington, Ind.
In the other first-round match at the Bloomington site, fourth-seeded host Indiana (23-7, 14-6 Big Ten) will take on Mid-American Conference tournament champion Toledo (23-10, 11-7 MAC). The winners of the two first-round contests will meet in the second round on Friday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. ET (4 p.m. MT).

The Buffs make their first appearance in the postseason tournament since 2022, and the program's 22nd overall. The Black and Gold have reached four regional title matches (sweet sixteens) and are 13-21 (.382) in NCAA tournament matches. Since the program's fruition, Colorado has advanced to four regional championship matches, 11 second-round appearances, and 19 first-round appearances (two first-round byes). In 2022, the Buffs traveled to the Waco, Texas, site hosted by Baylor, and fell to Rice in four sets (Dec. 1).
This tournament berth marks 10th year head coach Jesse Mahoney's fourth at Colorado. Mahoney has a regional (2016) and two first-round appearances (2018, 2022) as head coach of the Buffs, and two other appearances as a head coach at Denver (2014, 2015).
