Buffs Tame Wildcats in Conference Home Opener, 75-56
December 31, 2025 | Women's Basketball
BOULDER – The Colorado women's basketball team (10-4, 1-1 Big 12) defeated Arizona (9-4, 0-2 Big 12), 75-56, at the CU Events Center on Wednesday, Dec. 31.
The Colorado Buffaloes opened conference play at home by establishing a 12-point lead in the first quarter. The Wildcats tried to come back before the end of the first half, but the Buffs carried the momentum into halftime.
"Really proud of our team tonight. I thought we played well," head coach JR Payne stated. "We had a great preparation week of practice. It almost felt like in the fall -- when you just practice forever, and then you finally get to play a game. But it was a great week of practice. I thought today we executed scout and game plan almost as well as we have all year long. Even when we had to switch out on different matchups and things, we guarded really well.
The Buffs had their eighth game this season with four or more players in double-figures, and senior forward Anaëlle Dutat had her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
"To have four starters and double figures and then your fifth starter with seven assists and no turnovers, is unbelievable team effort," Payne said. "I think we'll continue to see all throughout the season that our stat sheet will hopefully continue to look like this with a lot of balance and just a lot of different people contributing in different ways. So, a really fun game tonight."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Colorado Buffaloes went on an early scoring run, going up by seven from two jumpers from Walker and a layup from Masogayo (7-0, CU).
