March 04, 2025 | Lacrosse

This is Peluso’s third conference weekly honor and Oh’s first

BOULDER – Colorado lacrosse's junior defender Jess Peluso (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip HS) was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman goalkeeper Elena Oh (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill HS) was chosen as Goalkeeper of the Week, the Conference announced Tuesday, Mar. 4.

Peluso receives her third career recognition -- first in the Big 12 -- for conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. She had seven draw controls, picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover against then-No. 25 Army West Point (Feb. 28). Peluso currently leads the Big 12 in ground balls per game (2.25) and is third for draw controls per game (5.75). Her 5.75 draw controls per game puts her at 38th in the NCAA. She has started all four games this lacrosse season for the Buffs and currently totals 23 draw controls, nine ground balls and two caused turnovers on the season.

Oh earned her first-ever conference award after her instrumental performance against the Black Knights – Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week. In just her second collegiate appearance, Oh collected 12 saves against Army, a .667 save percentage and picked up a ground ball. This performance puts her at second in the Big 12 for save percentage (.462) and third for saves per game (9.00). In her two games played, she has racked up 18 saves and faced 48 shots.

The Buffs recorded their first win of the season last week with a victory over then-No. 25 Army West Point. Colorado now hosts its second of five-straight home games, this time against Michigan (4-1, 0-0 Big Ten) this Saturday (Mar. 8) at Prentup Field at 12 p.m. MT. CU will also play Marquette (Mar. 11), Iona (Mar. 15) and Stony Brook (Mar. 20) at home this month. Colorado then goes to Houston for a neutral game with Dartmouth (Mar. 23) and begins Big 12 play on the road at San Diego State (Mar. 29).
