Seaton Adds Second Preseason Honor With Lombardi Award Selection

August 12, 2025 | Football

BOULDER — Colorado's Jordan Seaton has added another preseason accolade, being named to the 2025 Lombardi Award watch list, the Lombardi Award Committee announced Tuesday.

The preseason list highlights 54 of the nation's premier linemen and linebackers.

Seaton, a true sophomore, anchored the offensive line at left tackle last season. He earned freshman All-America honors from 247Sports, On3 and PFF, was named the College Football News Big 12 Freshman of the Year and earned honorable mention All-Big 12 Freshman of the Year recognition from the league's head coaches. He was also a Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award semifinalist.

As a true freshman, Seaton became CU's first true freshman to start a season opener at offensive tackle, starting all 13 games and logging the most offensive snaps on the team. He allowed just three sacks in 611 pass protection plays and did not allow a sack in 11 games. PFF graded him as the highest-rated true freshman in pass protection with at least 100 snaps, earning a 75.3 grade.

The Lombardi Award, established in 1970 in memory of legendary coach Vince Lombardi, is presented to an outstanding lineman who best epitomizes his values of leadership, courage, performance and discipline on and off the field. The 2025 watch list includes 10 defensive ends, seven defensive tackles and 12 linebackers on defense, and 11 offensive tackles, six offensive guards, five centers and three tight ends on offense. Seaton is one of five players representing the Big 12.

If selected, Seaton could become the first player in CU history to win the Lombardi Award.

Celebrating its 52nd anniversary, the Lombardi Award has been presented in Houston, Texas, since its inception. The 2025 award dinner is scheduled for Dec. 10, 2025.

The Buffs will kick off the season at 6 p.m. MT Friday, Aug. 29, against Georgia Tech on ESPN. CU has announced the game as a sellout. The program's third consecutive home-opening sellout.
