Colorado Volleyball’s Burilovic Named to 2025 Big 12 Preseason Team

The Buffs were picked to finish 10th in the 2025 Big 12 Preseason Volleyball Poll
IRVING, Texas – Colorado volleyball junior pin attacker Ana Burilovic (Split, Croatia/V. Gimnasium "Vladimir Nazor") was named to the 18-player 2025 Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Team, the Conference announced on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
Burilovic appeared in 29 out of 30 matches during the 2024 season, playing in 113 sets. She recorded 401 kills on the year, reaching double-digit kills in 24 games and tallying at least three kills in 29 appearances. She was also named to the All-Big 12 Volleyball Second Team for her standout sophomore campaign. Burilovic attained four double-doubles in the 2024 season, during matches against North Texas (20 kills, 12 digs), Washington (25 kills, 12 digs), Wyoming (12 kills, 10 digs), and Utah (18 kills, 14 digs). Burilovic posted a career-high 25 kills and 28.0 points against Washington (Sept. 8) and was named to the 2024 North Texas All-Tournament Team. She finished the season eighth in the Big 12 for kills per set (3.55) and seventh for points per set (4.12).
As a team, the Buffs were chosen to finish 10th in the 2025 Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Poll. This marks Colorado's second season back in the Big 12 after rejoining the Conference in 2024.
The poll and preseason honors were determined by the Big 12 head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own teams or players. This year's preseason team consists of 18 student-athletes from 11 schools. BYU and Kansas lead, each with three selected players. BYU received both the 2025 Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Player of the Year in junior outside hitter Claire Little and the 2025 Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Freshman of the Year in outside hitter Suli Davis.
The Buffs open their 2025 season at Rumble in the Rockies, and invitational in Laramie, Wyo., where they will face Cleveland State (Aug. 29), Tulsa (Aug. 30) and Wyoming (Aug. 31). Before competition in Boulder, CU will travel to Irvine, Calif., for the UCI/adidas Invitational and face Fresno State (Sept. 4), UPenn (Sept. 5) and UC Irvine (Sept. 6). Colorado returns home to host the Buffs Invitational at the CU Events Center from Sept. 12-14, with matches against Arkansas, Toledo and Denver. The Buffs will play nonconference in-state rival Colorado State in Fort Collins on Sept. 18, followed by a rematch in the Battle for the Golden Spike series at the CUEC on Sept. 19. Conference games will begin on Sept. 25 when the Buffs face BYU in Provo, Utah.

2025 Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Poll
Head Coach Jesse Mahoney is entering his 10th season at the helm of Colorado Volleyball. During his ninth season (2024), CU returned to the Big 12, finishing the season 13-17 and 6-12 against conference opponents. After the conclusion of the regular season, sophomore OH Ana Burilovic was selected to the All-Big 12 Second Team, and sophomores DS/L Avery Bolles and OH Sydney Jordan were both named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. The Buffs registered five dominant sweeps in the 2024 season, including victories over Cincinnati (Nov. 9) and Kansas State on senior night (Nov. 27). CU also played in nine five-set matches in 2024, seeing victories over six teams and three five-set victories in a row in October – against Texas Tech on Oct. 5, at UCF on Oct. 13 and at Arizona on Oct. 16.
