Buffs Fall to Cowgirls, 63-56
January 11, 2026 | Women's Basketball
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Colorado women's basketball team (11-6, 2-3 Big 12) fell to Oklahoma State (14-4, 3-2 Big 12), 63-56, at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Sunday, Jan. 11.
The Colorado Buffaloes played a close game against Oklahoma State, with the game seeing 11 lead changes and 10 ties. CU ended the first quarter down by two and the half down by four. The Black and Gold tied the game in the third quarter with a jumper from freshman forward Logyn Greer, and the battle continued into the fourth. The Buffs took the lead early in the last quarter, but the Cowgirls made a late comeback, with Colorado losing by seven (63-56).
"I thought we guarded really well, held them way below their averages offensively," head coach JR Payne stated. "[We] turned them over [16] times. I thought the defense was great. I just thought our offense was a lot better than it had been, which is also great. But I just thought there were some critical plays, several offensive rebounds that led to threes and lack of communication when we were switching that resulted in threes. When we executed the game plan, I thought we guarded – clearly 30 points below their average is pretty good – really well, but when we didn't, they made us pay."
The Buffs had more points in the paint (32-20), defensive rebounds (21-20), second chance points (12-11), assists (13-12) and fast-break point (9-0). Colorado shot 44% from the field and 100% from the free throw line.
