Gibson Named FWAA Freshman All-American
January 14, 2026 | Football
DALLAS (FWAA) – Colorado's Quentin Gibson was named to the 25th Anniversary Freshman All-American Team by the Football Writers Association of America as a return specialist.
Gibson made his mark this season in the return game on special teams. He led all true freshmen with 626 total return yards between kickoff and punt returns, 120 more than the next closest freshmen.
He made his biggest impact on kickoff returns, totaling 597 yards on 25 returns for an average of 23.9 yards. All three led true freshmen in those categories. In the Big 12, Gibson finished third in all three.
Gibson is the fifth Colorado player to be named an FWAA Freshman All-American and the second as a returner. This is the first time Colorado has received an All-American nod in back-to-back years, with tackle Jordan Seaton being named in 2024.
In Colorado history, Gibson ranks tenth in a single season for kickoff return yards and 20th for combined return yards in a season.
He played in all 12 games as a true freshman, starting in two, including the season opener against Georgia Tech. He was the only true freshman to start in week one and just the fourth to start a season opener in Colorado history.
