Volleyball Spotlight Series: Elle Richardson

BOULDER - The Colorado Women's Volleyball team added two new players to the roster ahead of the 2026 spring season. In order to get to know them all a little better, we're introducing the Volleyball Spotlight Series to highlight members of our squad.
Next up is freshman setter Elle Richardson.
How old were you when you started playing volleyball?
I started getting into volleyball when I was 12, and then I started playing club the next year.
Did you play any other sports growing up?
I did ballet and basketball.
Why did you choose volleyball?
My dad forced me to go to a volleyball camp, and I told him that I'd never play volleyball and that it was stupid. And then I came home that day from camp, and I was like, this is the best thing ever. And now I'm here!
Why did you choose CU?
I love the environment. I love that it's so pretty here. The people are so amazing. It's just, overall, the best.
What do you like about being a setter?
I like being everyone's biggest cheerleader. I don't really get a ton of the glory. I just get to hype other people up and facilitate for other people.
What are you most excited for this spring season?
I'm excited to just start working with the team, start building connections, and get prepped for the fall season.
What are you most excited about playing in the fall?
I'm just excited to be there and be a part of it.
You said you like to read and watch movie series. What are some of your favorite books and movies?
I'm kind of a 2000's rom-com person, so anything like "The Proposal", "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days", "She's the Man". And then books, I'm all over the place.
Why do you want to become a physical therapist?
I want to stay close to athletics in some sort of way. I want to always be improving my body and help other people improve theirs and recover and get back.
What's a fun fact about yourself?
I love hot chocolate! I will drink it in all forms, [but] true hot chocolate has my heart. I put French vanilla cream in it, and then if they add a little foam on top of that, that's perfect.
Do you have anything else you want people to know about you?
I'm excited to be here!
