Irving Advances to Halfpipe Final, Leads Americans in Qualifying

LIVIGNO, Italy -- Former CU Boulder student Svea Irving secured a spot in the women's freestyle halfpipe final Thursday at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
Irving qualified eighth overall and was the top of two American's to qualify. She opened with a strong first run that scored 77.75, the seventh-best mark of the round, before improving to an 80.75 on her second attempt. Her second run ranked fifth among all competitors in that round and locked in her position among the top 12 advancing to the final in eighth place.
The women's halfpipe final is scheduled for Saturday.

Saturday will also feature the men's 50K mass start in cross country, where former Buff Alvar Alev is set to compete.
The two events are expected to close out Olympic competition for the eight current and former Colorado athletes who competed at the 2026 Winter Games.
