Coach Prime Welcomes Prairie View A&M Staff To Colorado Spring Practice
March 06, 2026 | Football
BOULDER — Colorado head coach Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders welcomed Tremaine Jackson and members of the Prairie View A&M Panthers football coaching staff to Boulder this week as guests during the Buffaloes' spring practice.
The visit reflects Coach Prime's continued commitment to supporting and connecting with historically Black college and university programs while sharing ideas across the coaching profession.
"This is family to me," Coach Prime said. "HBCUs poured so much into this game and into me personally. Whenever we can open the doors, share knowledge and build relationships, that is something I am always going to do."
Jackson and members of the Prairie View A&M staff observed practice and spent time with Colorado's coaching staff as both programs continue preparations for the upcoming season.
In addition to observing practice, Prairie View A&M staff members spent time throughout the day following their respective counterparts within the Colorado program, including sports medicine, operations, equipment, and administration, creating opportunities to exchange ideas and learn from each department.
For Jackson, the visit to Boulder was an opportunity to study one of the nation's premier programs while building relationships within the profession.
"We wanted to come out and see how Coach does it," Jackson said. "He is one of the top coaches in the country and has accomplished what we are working to build at Prairie View A&M. He did it before at Jackson State, and we wanted the opportunity to visit, learn and share ideas that can help both of our programs grow."
Jackson said bringing his entire staff was an important part of the experience.
"People do not grow because they do not go anywhere," Jackson said. "We wanted our staff to see it at a high level because we want to be elite. We do not just want to be the best HBCU program. We want to be an elite FCS program."
Prairie View A&M Athletic Director Anton Goff said the visit reflects the university's commitment to supporting its football program and providing opportunities for staff development.
"Coach Sanders and his staff have been tremendous hosts," Goff said. "When Coach Jackson brought the idea to me, my role as athletic director is to support our coaches and provide opportunities that help our program grow. Experiences like this are part of giving our staff the resources they need to build a championship program."
Coach Prime said opportunities like this strengthen the profession and allow coaches to learn from one another.
"We all grow from each other," Coach Prime said. "Football is about development and relationships. When coaches come together and share the game the right way, everybody benefits."
The visit also provided Prairie View A&M's staff a chance to see the Buffaloes program during spring workouts as Colorado continues to build toward the season ahead.
"For them to come out here and spend time with us means a lot," Sanders said. "Iron sharpens iron. We want to help where we can, and we appreciate them making the trip."
Colorado will continue spring practice this week in Boulder.
