Biwer, Holland Earn Tour Cards 8,000 Miles Apart on Same Day

April 03, 2026 | Men's Golf, Alumni C Club

SAN JACINTO, Calif. — University of Colorado alumnus Justin Biwer finished a solid week with a 4-under par 68 that landed him in fifth place as the fifth and final Q-School tournament was concluded here Friday.

Biwer, who recorded the second-most birdies in the final round with five, finished with a 12-under scorecard of 69-68-71-68—276 on the Soboba Springs Golf Club course.  Four back of the lead, he earned one of eight cards available to the field of 153 competitors, qualifying by one stroke over three others that finished 11-under.

Biwer made 18 birdies and just six bogeys over the course of the week, continuing his "m.o." of avoiding big numbers that was the trademark of his CU career, where he set or tied 32 individual records before graduating last May.

Biwer turned professional last summer and has played in numerous events, mostly in California and Arizona on the Asher Tour.  He played in 10 Asher events with a win and six top 10 finishes (in his first six events) and is currently second on its money list for the '25-26 season ($42,570).  He will be the first Buffalo to play in a PGA Tour Americas event, which began play in 2024, after succeeding the PGA Tour Latinoamerica that ran from 2012 through 2023.

"The last two months had been a bit of a struggle, so I can tell you how good this feels right now," Biwer said.  "I just hadn't been playing very well, but my game this week is where I wanted it to be.  Things really clicked today, it was very windy and the course played difficult but things worked out well in the end."

"I felt a lot better about my ball-striking, much more comfortable than I had been in a while," he continued.  "That was a big factor in getting things to work out.  I've also been doing a lot more mental work than I ever had done before, and it really paid off.  In total, it feels like it's a monkey off my back with such high expectations (after his start on the Asher Tour).  You're going to have good weeks and bad weeks, but it feels really good having qualified."

"I have an official job now," he mused.  "The mini-tour stuff was fun, but it really wasn't a job.  This feels a lot more fulfilling earning (the card) this way than through the PGA University program.  I feel like I earned it a lot more in my head.  And just knowing I have somewhere to play is very relaxing."  He is planning to make his debut in the season opener in Brazil.

The PGA Tour Americas begins play April 16 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the 71st ECP Brazil Open on the Rio Olympic Golf Course.   There are 15 tournaments scheduled in all, with events set in Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Canada and the United States (Minnesota and Kansas).  It serves as a "feeder circuit" for the Korn Ferry Tour, which is the same for the PGA Tour.  The top 10 players after the season finale in October will earn Korn Ferry Tour cards for 2027.

"A truly exciting day for Justin," exclaimed CU head coach Roy Edwards.  "He was outside looking in most of the tournament but just kept battling and was tough and came through at the end.  He will have a great home to play on the rest of the year."

HOLLAND EARNS AUSTRALASIA CARD:  Though they were 8,000 miles and 18 hours apart, another '25 CU graduate, Jack Holland, also had a good week, as the Australian native finished in a tie for 15th Friday in the Qualifying School Finals for the Challenger PGA Tour Australasia.

With the result, he earned his card for the '26-27 season.  Holland's four-day scorecard at the Sandhurst Club in Melbourne was consistent: 68-71-69-71, or a 5-under 279, 10 strokes off the lead.  He had two eagles and 18 birdies with 38 pars over the four rounds.

The top 26 players plus ties in the 63-man field earned their Australasia Tour cards.

"Jack played great as well and that tour is one of the most competitive anywhere," Edwards said.  "It will be great for Jack to develop and especially nice to do so right there at home."

The Australasia Tour season runs from August through March with events in Australia and New Zealand
