Chase Hill Signing

Buffs Sign San Antonio Forward Chase Hill

May 18, 2026 | Men's Basketball

BOULDER – Chase Hill has signed a financial aid agreement to join the Colorado men's basketball program for the 2026-27 campaign, head coach Tad Boyle announced on Monday.

A 6-foot, 7-inch forward, Hill is a recent graduate from TMI-Episcopal School in San Antonio, where he helped the Panthers to a runner-up finish at the 2026 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Class 6A State Tournament.

Hill averaged roughly 12 points and four rebounds per game as TMI finished 21-9 overall with a perfect 9-0 mark in TAPPS 6A District 3 competition. He was an All-6A District 3 selection, earned honorable mention to the TAPPS Class 6A All-State team and was named to the All-State Tournament team. Hill was selected to participate in the TAPPS-UIL Class 6A San Antonio Sports All-Star game.

"I look at him as a developmental guy," Boyle said. "He's just looking for an opportunity, and we provided one here, so we'll see where it goes, kind of on a year-to-year basis, but obviously, we're like that with most of the players in today's world. I don't know how much he'll play as a freshman, but he's got great size and skill and great character from a great family, which fits a lot of the things we look for in players."

Hill comes from a prominent basketball family. His father, Cameron, is the head women's basketball coach at NCAA Division III Trinity University in San Antonio and is the program's all-time leader in career victories. Hill's grandfather, Bob, was a coach whose career spanned parts of five decades, including head coaching stints with New York, Indiana, San Antonio and Seattle in the NBA.

The eldest Hill was an assistant coach at Kansas from 1979-85, and was the staffer who recruited Boyle to the Jayhawks in 1981.

"I knew Chase before he could even walk," Boyle said. "I wouldn't say I've watched him grow up by any means, but I've certainly stayed in touch with coach (Bob) Hill. When we're looking to fill roster spots, we're looking for young men who may be a little bit overlooked, maybe a little bit under the radar. And Chase Hill is exactly that. He didn't play a lot of AAU basketball, but he grew up in a gym. He's a coach's kid and the grandson of a coach, so basketball is in the family's blood."
