Colorado Athletics Unveils Official Co-Branded Tequila Bottle with Suerte Tequila
May 19, 2026 | Buffalo Sports Properties
Boulder, CO —Colorado Athletics and Suerte Tequila today announced the release of a new officially licensed, co-branded tequila bottle – through a multi-year partnership cultivated by exclusive multimedia rights holder Learfield's Buffalo Sports Properties. A portion of the proceeds of the limited-edition release will also directly support Colorado student-athlete resources.
"We are so grateful that Boulder's own Suerte Tequila is joining our Buffs family while also providing tremendous support for our student-athletes," said CU Director of Athletics Fernando Lovo. "Suerte Tequila, like CU Athletics, is the embodiment of excellence and exacting attention to detail and I know our fans will enjoy the special Suerte Blanco CU Edition."
"As a brand born and raised in Boulder, we are incredibly proud to be the official tequila of the CU Buffs," said Laurence Spiewak, Co-founder & President of Suerte Tequila. "This partnership is a perfect hometown fit, fueled by shared passion and local grit. We can't wait for fans to celebrate with the new Suerte Blanco CU Edition—Sko Buffs!"
Suerte Tequila—named for the Spanish word for "luck"—is an independent craft tequila produced in the highlands of Jalisco, MX. Distilled exclusively at NOM 1530, Suerte is the sole brand crafted at its solar-powered, single distillery. Produced from 100% Blue Weber agave through the traditional tahona method, this tequila honors time-tested craftsmanship while embracing sustainability through local sourcing, responsible agriculture, waste repurposing, and eco-friendly packaging.
Available for purchase at select retailers now, the co-branded bottle features a custom design that brings together the distinct identity of Colorado Athletics with Suerte Tequila's premium craftsmanship.
"We're excited to partner with Suerte to offer the first, officially licensed tequila for Buffaloes fans," said Andrew Popchock, General Manager of Buffalo Sports Properties. "It's a fresh, authentic way to connect the Buffaloes brand with our community while continuing to grow opportunities at Colorado for student-athletes."
This co-branded drop is just getting the party started. Suerte and Colorado Athletics are already teaming up on another release set to arrive later this summer—so stay ready, Buffs fans!

About Suerte Tequila
Suerte is proudly Colorado's Tequila, delivering premium craftsmanship at an unbeatable value. Produced at Tequilera Simbolo in the highlands of Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco, Suerte is among the rare 2% of tequila brands with a dedicated distillery, ensuring full control over quality and sustainability. Suerte is also in the exclusive less than 1% of brands using 100% tahona crushing, creating a more authentic, nuanced tequila.
Suerte Tequila views sustainability not as a marketing strategy but as a core philosophy rooted in "doing things right." Based in the highlands of Jalisco, the brand operates a solar-powered distillery that uses natural spring water and locally sourced ingredients, with agave grown without herbicides, pesticides, or irrigation to protect the land and product quality. By sourcing materials nearby, repurposing agave waste into animal feed or compost, and using environmentally responsible packaging certified by recognized sustainability standards, Suerte minimizes its environmental impact throughout production. The company also emphasizes social responsibility by creating local jobs, paying above-average wages, and reinvesting in the Atotonilco El Alto community. Through a balance of traditional tequila craftsmanship, environmental stewardship, and community support, Suerte Tequila positions sustainability as an authentic commitment to quality, people, and place.
Suerte's award-winning lineup includes Blanco, Blanco Still Strength, Reposado, Single Barrel Reposado, and Añejo, as well as Margarita, Paloma, Mangorita, and Ranch Water Canned Cocktails.
Here's to the Rabbits. Centuries ago, legend has it, a farmer's wife saw lots of rabbits (400 it is said). They were bouncing happily through her fields lapping up the juices from the fermented agave plants. She went out and collected some of the nectar in jars, brought it into the hacienda and, for the first time, everyone did tequila shots. Ultimately she was crowned Mayahuel, the Aztec Goddess of Tequila. And the rabbits, well, to Suerte, they're heroes.
