Asher Whitaker has two years of eligibilty remaining

BOULDER —University of Colorado men's head coach Roy Edwards has added to his 2026 recruiting class with the addition of Asher Whitaker, who will transfer to CU this fall from the University of Oklahoma.

Whitaker, who prepped at Mount Carmel Catholic High School in Wichita, Kan., has two years of eligibility remaining.  Over his two years as a Sooner, he played in eight events with a 73.04 stroke average, with a low score of 64 and three top 20 finishes.

"We are incredibly excited to add Asher to our team," Edwards said.  "He is an extremely talented and hard-working player who was one of the top junior golfers in the country coming out of high school.  As good of a player as he is, he will be a great asset as a teammate."

"I chose Colorado because of the culture, "Whitaker said.  "The coaching staff is great and they recruit great guys. The facilities and access to golf courses give you everything you need to be great.  I am excited for and appreciate the opportunity and look forward to the upcoming season."

Whitaker was ranked 1,497th in this week's world amateur rankings (WAGR), and was No. 587 in the clippd/Scoreboard college rankings for the 2025-26 season.

Barring the unforeseen, this completes CU's recruiting class for the upcoming year.  Including Whitaker, the '26 nine-man Buff roster will feature one graduate student, two seniors, two juniors, two sophomores and two freshmen.  One of those freshmen, Colt Farrow, is from the Wichita area – Hutchinson – and the two will be the fifth and sixth Kansas high schoolers to join the CU golf program.
