Buffs Add Eric Jacobsen For 2026-27 Season

BOULDER – Eric Jacobsen has signed a financial aid agreement to join the Colorado men's basketball program for the 2026-27 campaign, head coach Tad Boyle announced on Tuesday.

A 6-foot, 11-inch forward, Jacobsen is a recent graduate of Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, a prep program competing in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL).

"I'm really excited to join Colorado," Jacobsen said. "I felt like it's a good spot to develop and I feel like I can make an impact. I'm really excited to be here."

Jacobsen spent two years with the Bobcats on the East Coast, but his playing time was essentially cut to one season. An ACL injury sidelined him for the second half of his junior year and the first part of his senior season, finally being cleared to begin play this past January.

"Eric wasn't on the circuit last spring and summer, so he was really under recruited, "Boyle said. "It took him a while to kind of ramp back up. His best basketball is ahead of him. He's a hard worker and a guy we're really excited about."

Prior to Brewster, Jacobsen played his freshman and sophomore seasons at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, N.M. During his sophomore season in 2023-24, he averaged 10 points and eight rebounds, helping the Bears to the Class 5A state semifinals.

"Eric is a heck of a player," Boyle said. "He fits the mold for Colorado basketball. He's a high-character guy from a great family. He's a skilled big that can shoot the ball and stretch the floor. We knew this spring there would be some players available that were maybe a little under the radar, and he fits that mold as well.

"He checks a lot of boxes for us. He's a young big, and bigs take a little bit more time to develop sometimes, but his skill set is going to fit what we need and we needed some help on that front line. We were a little thin, but now he gives us five guys that can battle down there."
