June 09, 2026 | Tennis
Boulder, Colo – The University of Colorado's head women's tennis coach Anthony Pham has been selected Dunlop Coach of the Year for the Rocky Mountain region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as part of its season-ending awards.
Despite dealing with a string of injuries late in the year, the Buffs finished the season ranked 75th in the nation in the final ITA poll and CU appeared in ITA's weekly rankings 11 times in 2026, the most since 2010. At one point during the year, the Buffaloes reached as high as 51, their highest ranking since 2024 and second-highest since 2021.
"First and foremost this is definitely an award that goes to our entire coaching and support staff," said Pham. "Both Blake Mosley and Sam Larson work tirelessly everyday to help our student-athletes grow both on and off the courts. Our standards are extremely high and we understand there is still so much work to do and are excited to keep pushing this program to new heights and help it reach its full potential."
Colorado ended the season 10-13, the third time the Buffaloes have reached double-digits in wins since 2020 and pulled off a massive upset by knocking off No. 28 Oklahoma State, the Buffs' highest-ranked victory since 2023. Aya El Sayed earned Big 12 Conference Player of the Week honors for her performance in the upset and finished the year Second-Team All-Big 12.
"The Buffs under Coach Pham this year were resilient and tough, a testament to his steady, positive leadership in the face of adversity." said Director of Athletics Fernando Lovo. "Our tennis student-athletes are consistently excellent on and off the courts and I'm so proud the ITA has recognized Coach Pham for this well-deserved honor."
The Buffaloes were also superb in the classroom, recording a 3.38 team GPA for the Spring Semester, which is during the bulk of competition and having four players recognized on the 2025-26 CSC All-Academic Team.
