Pearson Earns CSC Academic All-America Honors

July 15, 2026 | Track and Field

BOULDER — Colorado's Avery Pearson has been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-America women's track and field/cross country third team, as selected by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Pearson, a native of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada, holds a 3.97 grade point average as a graduate student at Colorado, pursuing her master's degree in Organizational Leadership. She earned CSC Academic All-District honors in June and advanced to the national ballot, where she was voted to the Academic All-America third team by a nationwide panel of CSC members.

Pearson had a stellar 2025-26 season for the Buffaloes, especially during the Indoor portion of the schedule. She won the Big 12 Conference Indoor title in the 600-yard run, breaking the meet record twice at the event. She initially ran 1-minute, 17.92-seconds in winning her preliminary round before taking the crown with a time of 1:17.48 in the finals.

In the 800 meters, Pearson ran a personal best, school record and Colorado soil record time of 2:00.76 at the Colorado Last Chance meet in February. The converted time of 1:59.98 placed her third all-time in the NCAA at altitude. Pearson qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 800, placing ninth in a preliminary round with a time of 2:02.92.

During the Outdoor season, she competed in five meets, highlighted by a season-best time of 2:00.91 in the 800 at the Bryan Clay Invitational, the second-best mark in program history. Pearson was seventh in the 800 at the Big 12 Outdoor and qualified for the NCAA Outdoor in that event as well.

Pearson competed for the University of Saskatchewan from 2021-25, where she was a five-time Canada West gold medalist and two-time silver medalist. She is a veteran of the Canadian National Team program, competing twice at the U20 World Championships and was a finalist in the 800 at the 2021 event. Pearson represented Team Canada at the 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships earlier this year and most recently finished third in the 800 at the Canadian Championships in June.

Pearson was named to the 2025-26 Big 12 Spring Academic Honor Roll and was a four-time Academic All-Canadian pick. She is the 19th Colorado women's cross country or track and field student-athlete to be named to the Academic All-America team and first since Eleanor Baran and Bailey Hertenstein in 2024.
