Buffs Make Most Of Portugal Tour On And Off The Court

BOULDER – Eight days, two dominant exhibition victories and countless memories later, Colorado women's basketball has wrapped up its foreign tour of Portugal with plenty to show for its time overseas.
The Buffaloes opened the trip with an impressive 87-31 victory over Paco, setting the tone from the opening tip. Colorado raced out to a 21-3 lead in the first quarter and continued to build its advantage throughout the afternoon. Anete Adler led all scorers with 16 points, while Aniya' Foy added 15, and Brooke Walker and Logyn Greer each contributed 15.
Colorado followed with an even more explosive offensive performance, cruising to a 127-24 win over CD Pavoa. The Buffs shot 53.3% from the field, connected on nine 3-pointers and forced 38 turnovers while recording 25 steals and nine blocks.
Mecailin Marshall led the way with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while Claire O'Connor added 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Walker and Greer each scored 15, with Walker also recording six assists and four steals. Foy finished with 14 points, Adler added 13 points and eight rebounds, and Sophie Zadel chipped in 11 points.
Across the two exhibitions, Colorado's depth was on full display, with contributions coming from throughout the roster. The games also provided valuable opportunities for the Buffs' five transfers and two freshmen to experience game action together while continuing to learn Colorado's system and build chemistry ahead of the 2026-27 season.
But the basketball was only part of the adventure.
The Buffs spent their time in Portugal exploring Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais and Porto, experiencing the country's culture, history and scenery along the way.
In Lisbon, the team took a Tuk Tuk tour, winding through the city's streets and seeing some of its most recognizable landmarks. The Buffs also got a behind-the-scenes look at Estádio da Luz, home of Benfica, learning about the history of one of Portugal's most iconic sporting venues. CU additionally hosted a youth coaching clinic, sharing their passion for basketball with young players and coaches in the Lisbon community.
The team then made its way to Cascais, where it visited the stunning Boca do Inferno cliffs along the Atlantic coast. The dramatic views provided one of the trip's most memorable stops and a chance for the Buffs to take in Portugal's natural beauty.
In Porto, Colorado explored Carris Porto Ribeira before taking to the Douro River for a boat ride beneath six of the city's famous bridges.
From dominating on the court to riding through the streets of Lisbon, touring a legendary soccer stadium, taking in the Atlantic coastline and cruising the Douro River, the Buffs' eight days in Portugal offered plenty of opportunities to grow both as a team and as individuals.
With two exhibition wins and a wealth of shared experiences now in the books, Colorado returns to Boulder with a stronger foundation, a deeper connection and plenty of momentum as the Buffs turn their attention toward the 2026-27 season.

Head Coach JR Payne is entering her 11th season at the helm of Colorado Women's Basketball. During her 10th season, the Buffaloes played their second season back in the Big 12, finishing the season 22-12 and 11-7 against conference opponents. CU recorded four ranked wins on the 2025-26 season over No. 19 Iowa State (68-62), No. 14 TCU (80-79), No. 20 Texas Tech (75-68), and No. 20 Baylor (62-53) in the Big 12 Tournament to get to the semifinals. Colorado women's basketball wrapped up the 2025-26 season with its 17th NCAA Tournament appearance all-time, falling 66-57 in the First Round to seven-seed Illinois (Mar. 21). The Buffs have won over 20 games in each of the last five seasons and have appeared in the NCAA Tournament in four of the last five years.
