    SENIOR (2017): In her senior year, DeWinter played midfield in five games. She recorded one goal, one assist, three groundballs, and two draw controls. DeWinter began the season with one groundball and one draw control in the 22-3 win over Stetson on Feb. 19. She had one assist and a groundball against Winthrop on March 15, and added one goal, one groundball and one draw control to help the Buffs beat Saint Mary’s on April 21.
     
    JUNIOR (2016): DeWinter played in nine games as a reserve midfielder, finishing with two goals, one assist, three points, four shot attempts, six ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers. She continued to be a leader off the field, posting a 3.91 GPA to earn MPSF All-Academic honors. DeWinter had two ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover in an 18-4 win at Fresno State on Feb. 21. She recorded her first assist of the year in a 14-3 win over UC Davis on April 1, adding a ground ball and caused turnover. She had her first career two-goal game on April 15 in a 23-0 win over Saint Mary’s (Calif.), also contributing two ground balls and a draw control.
     
    SOPHOMORE (2015): DeWinter played in all 18 of the Buffs’ games with six starts. She tallied 12 ground balls, six draw controls, and seven caused turnovers. She was a vital part of the Buffs’ defense this season and earned a spot on the MPSF All-Academic Team with a 3.88 GPA. DeWinter had a season-high three ground balls against Boston College on March 25 and also had two against New Hampshire and UC Davis. She totaled two draw controls against UMass Lowell and No. 15 Stanford as well.
     
    FRESHMAN (2014): DeWinter played in all 19 of the Buffs’ games, making 18 starts in her rookie season. DeWinter tied a team-high with 15 caused turnovers and ranked in the top five with 28 ground balls and 11 draw controls. DeWinter had at least one caused turnover in 11 games, recording two on four separate occasions. She was the only CU defender to score in 2014, netting a goal and contributing two assists. She took her first collegiate shot against Brown, and had a career performance just one game later. Against St. Mary’s, DeWinter scored her first goal with 12:48 remaining in the first half, and contributed an assist just over one minute later. She also had a season-high four ground balls in the game. DeWinter had another strong stat line in the MPSF Tournament, recording an assist, three ground balls and two caused turnovers against San Diego State.

    HIGH SCHOOL: DeWinter helped Chaparral to its first league championship, recording back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011. DeWinter capped her prep career with U.S. Lacrosse first-team All-American and Academic All-American honors. She was named first-team all-league three consecutive years and received academic all-state honors in back-to-back lacrosse seasons. In her final season, she was also named first-team all-state. Her freshman season, she was named her team's Rookie of the Year. After her sophomore season, she joined the Team 180 club program. She also became a member of Team Colorado in the Women's Division National Tournament and participated in the Gore Range Classic, the Northern Rise and the President's Cup. She also played basketball and competed in cross country at Chaparral, earning first-team Academic All-State honors as a junior. 

    IN THE CLASSROOM: DeWinter earned her degree in biological and chemical engineering.

    PERSONAL: Madison DeWinter was born on October 10, 1994, to Mark and Sue DeWinter, a business owner and a computer software programmer. She enjoys horseback riding and snowboarding. Her favorite subject is science, and her favorite books are the Harry Potter series. The Colorado native loves the Avalanche, Rockies and Broncos and looks up to Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin. DeWinter chose CU for the engineering program, proximity to the mountains and the opportunity to a part of a brand new program. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has received an Academic Excellence Award in science.
