Career—In his short two-year career as a Buff, Alev skied in 23 career races and finished in the top five in all but five of those (18) with 10 top five finishes, six podium appearances and three race victories.  A balanced skier, exactly half of his top 10 finishes (nine each in classic and freestyle), his top five finishes (five each) and podiums (three each) came in each discipline.  His three victories were also split, earning two in classic and one in freestyle.  He earned three of a possible four All-America honors, including two first-team nods, and was All-RMISA twice.  

2019 (Senior)—Alev skied in all 12 races in 2019 and finished in the top 20 in 11 of them.  He had eight top 10 finishes, including both races at the NCAA Championships, earning a first-team All-America honor in the classical race with a fourth place finish and second-team honor in the freestyle after finishing sixth.  He won his third career race at New Mexico, winning the 7.5K classic race there.  In Alaska, he finished in the top 10 in three of the four races, including a fourth place showing in the classical race as part of the RMISA Championships.  He took seventh in both the classic and freestyle races as part of the UAA Invitational.  On top of two All-America honors, he earned second-team All-RMISA and was the RMISA Skier of the Week and the CU Athlete of the Week after the New Mexico Invitational, where he finished 10th in the freestyle race along side his classic win.  He was a finalist for the CU Male Career Athletic Achievement Award despite only skiing two years.  He was the No. 8 qualifier out of the RMISA for the NCAA Championship and seeded fourth in the classic race. 

2018 (Junior)—Garnered first-team All-America honors in his first season as a Buff after finishing in second place at the NCAA Championships held in Steamboat Springs in the 20K freestyle skate … In 12 races he finished eighth or better in 11 of those, had five total podium finishes and won a pair of races at the Denver Invitational held in Minturn, Colo. … He was a first-team All-RMISA selection and earned the third-most NCAA Qualification Points of any men’s Nordic skier in the western region … Was named the RMISA Skier of the Week after his performance at the UNM Invite where he was fifth in the 21K skate race, the longest race of the season, and third in the 5K classic … He was named the CU Athlete of the Week after his weekend in Minturn when he won the 10K skate and 10K classic races ... After the conclusion of the season he was presented with the Lucie Hanusova Award for having the ability to overcome adversity and challenges with a smile and enthusiasm.

Club—Alev raced for the Joulu Skiclub and the Estonian National Team before coming to Colorado ... Participated in the World Ski Championships in Lahti, Finland on Feb. 25, 2017, finishing 15th in the 15K Skiathlon ... Won seven European Forestman’s Championships and competed in the sprint classic final at the World Cup held in Drammen on March 8, 2017 ... In the Estonian National Championships on Feb. 12, 2017, he placed fourth in the 15K classical race held in Otepää ... At the Austrian National Championships in Ramsau am Dachstein, he finished second in the 10K freestyle pursuit and also placed second in the 15K classic ... Had a ninth-place showing in the 15K freestyle mass start in the Alpen Cup held in Goms, Switzerland on Dec. 18, 2016 ... On Feb. 15, 2014 at the Latvia National Championships in Priekuli, he won the 10K classic race ... In January of 2013 he was with the Estonian Junior National Team competing at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Liberec, Czech Republic and placed 20th in the 10K freestyle and 27th in the skiathlon.  

High School—He graduated from Audentes Sports School in June 2013.

In the Classroom—He is undecided on a major at Colorado.

Personal—Alev was born May 25, 1993 in Parnu, Estonia ... Hobbies include skiing and watching soccer ... He chose to come to CU because of the “ideal conditions for training and Boulder seemed to be a really nice town with a really strong ski team.”

* 2018 U.S. Cross Country Championships served as qualifier races, which are used as an extra opportunity for skiers to earn qualification points for the NCAA Championships at the end of the season.
