College—Career: He ended his college playing days early by turning pro on April 17 (2017), and teed it up for the first time as a professional in the Web.com Tour's United Leasing & Finance Championship on a sponsor’s exemption (he missed the cut). He set or tied 24 Colorado school records, including the career mark for stroke average: he owned a 71.72 norm for 138 rounds played (shattering the old mark of 72.90). Other top marks included 131 of those rounds counting toward CU's team score, that 94.9 percentage the third-best by a Buff, and set the school record with 54 consecutive rounds counting toward CU’s team score over his sophomore and junior years (ended in the second round of the 2016 Southeast (Tuscaloosa) Regional). He played in 47 overall events, finishing under par in 22 of those and at even-par four other times. He finished with 40 rounds in the 60s, 66 subpar rounds and 74 rounds of par or better, all three CU bests, and is the only player in CU history to play over 50 percent of his rounds at or under par (53.6). His 21 top 10 finishes also set a CU record, and his 27 top 20 finishes tied for the most. He won three meets as a collegian and shot his career-best round of 8-under par 64 as a senior in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. He led the team in stroke average all four years as a Buffalo: 72.51 as a freshman in 2013-14, followed by 72.00 as a sophomore, 70.66 as a junior and 71.75 as a senior, joining Steve Jones (1977-81) and Knut Ekjord (1994-99) as the only players in CU history to lead the four times. He concluded his career with four of the top nine single season stroke averages in CU history.
2016-17 (Sr.): He concluded his senior season with a 71.75 average for 28 rounds, including a 71.27 mark for 15 rounds in the spring (for the year, he was just 7 strokes over par). He tied for the team lead with 13 subpar rounds, and was third with 26-of-28 rounds counting toward team scoring (92.9 percent). He was the team leader in percentages for subpar holes (20.2) and subpar/par holes (81.3). He owned the best first round (72.0) and third round (70.8) averages on the team. In his final collegiate meet before turning pro, he finished in a tie for 40th in The Maxwell with a 75-79-68—222 scorecard (12-over par). The timing eliminated him from competing in the Pac-12 Championships. He opened up the final semester of his career with three top six performances, tying for fifth in the Amer Ari Invitational in Hawaii (205, 11-under), then tying for third at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate (208, -8) and then for sixth in the Bandon Dunes Championship (211, minus-5). He finished third on the team in stroke average for the fall (72.31), competing in five of six tournaments. He missed the New Mexico Tucker meet as he was competing for his native Germany in the World Amateur Team Championships in Cancun, Mexico; he had played in the first 39 that he could before missing the Tucker. He hurried back into town for CU’s Mark Simpson Invitational which started a day after returning from Mexico, as despite his obvious exhaustion, still managed to tie for 36th (217, +1). He tied for seventh in Denver’s Paintbrush Invitational (212, -4), and then wrapped up the fall with a 24th-place showing in the stroke play portion of UCLA’s Gifford Intercollegiate (144, E) before going 3-0 in the match play event.
2015-16 (Jr.): An honorable mention All-American (GCAA), first-team PING All-West Region performer and second-team All-Pac-12 member, he ended the year ranked as the nation’s No. 53 player (GolfStat; No. 67 by Golfweek). He was 16th in the NCAA in both stroke average (70.66) and in SCIRP (score in relation to par: -0.61), and was fifth in the region and Pac-12 in both. He was a most-respectable 49-56-5 against the nation’s top 100 players (7-21-1 versus the top 25, 15-36-3 against the top 50). He set numerous school records, most notably season marks for stroke average, rounds in the 60s (18) and subpar rounds (21); he bettered the average mark by nearly a stroke, shattering Kane Webber’s 71.46 for the 2003-04 season. He was consistent across the board, averaging 69.2 for his first rounds, 71.8 for middle rounds and 71.0 for final rounds and turned in the team’s top performance in nine of 13 meets, including two wins: in the season opener in the Ballyneal Challenge (a three-team event but on a very tough course) and at Wyoming’s Cowboy Classic where four players tied at 11-under 205. He tied for seventh in the Pac-12 meet with a 68-67-74-73—282 (-2) effort and tied for 21st in the NCAA Southeast Regional (68-77-74—219, +3). Of his 38 overall rounds, 37 counted toward CU’s team score (97.4 percent). He led the team in the coaches’ “jumbo stat,” as he had just seven holes worse than bogey (out of 684; six doubles and one triple for eight jumbo points, or .211 per his 38 rounds); at one time, he had 202 straight holes without a score worse than a bogey. He also led CU in top five (4), top 10 (7) and top 20 finishes (9), subpar rounds (21), eagles (6), birdies (145), holes of par or better (558 of 684, or 81.6 percent). He set a school record with seven straight rounds in the 60s, which also tied the mark for most consecutive rounds under par. His consistency was marked by an amazing run of 202 straight holes without a score worse than bogey in the spring season. His 70.65 stroke average for the fall set an all-time school record, besting 71.0 by Derek Tolan in the 2008 fall season. He opened the fall season by matching his personal best of 9-under for a tournament when he recorded a 65-68—133 in the Ballyneal Challenge, claiming medalist honors in the process. He finished in the top 26 for all six fall events, including four in the top 16: in addition to his win at Ballyneal, he placed third in CU’s own Mark Simpson Invitational (210, E), tied for seventh at the Air Force Falcon Invitational (213, -3) and tied for 16th to close out the fall at UCLA’s Gifford Collegiate (217, +4). His second best performance in relation to par came in Cal’s Alister Mackenzie (209, -4), where he tied for 26th. He led or tied the team in 10 statistical categories for the fall season. He finished 13th in the Team Europe Standings for the Arnold Palmer Cup (the top 10 make the team) and was one of the finalists for a second straight year for CU’s Male Athlete of the Year at the CUSPY Awards (CU Sports Performers of the Year).
2014-15 (Soph.): He led the Buffs for a second straight season in stroke average with an even 72.00 figure, the fourth-best overall single-season average in school history; his 72.50 average for the spring portion of the year was the eighth-best in school annals. He led the team in top 10 finishes (5) and top 20 efforts (7), as well as in subpar rounds (15) and tied for the lead in rounds counting toward team scoring (97.1 percent, or 34 of 35). He had just one top 20 finish in the spring (tying for sixth in the rain-shortened Bandon Dunes Championship, 142, -2), but finished 43rd or higher in five of the six spring events. He tied for 29th in the Pac-12 Championships (288, +8), but closed with a pair of 69s which was eighth-best over the final 36 holes. He tied for 39th in the NCAA Central Regional, opening strong with a 69 before finished at 9-over 225. In leading the team in the six fall tournaments with a 71.47 stroke average, he recorded the fourth-best number at the time in school history for the fall portion of the season. He also had fall team bests with four top 10 finishes, with all six of his efforts placing in the top 20; seven of his 17 fall rounds were under par and all counted toward team scoring. A fast-starter, his top finish came following his highest opening round score of the fall (74): he posted a fifth-place effort in the first tournament of the season – the Air Force Falcon Invitational – where he matched his collegiate career-best 65 in the final round to zoom into a top five finish. He still owned a team-best 70.33 first round average (71.5 over his CU career), starting the last three fall tournaments with rounds in the 60s. For the year, he had a team-high 119 birdies and a 19.5 subpar percentage, along with the fewest holes worse than bogey (19).
2013-14 (Fr.): He earned second-team All-Pac-12 Conference honors and All-Pac-12 Freshman Team honors in rewriting most of CU’s freshman records, starting with his 72.51 stroke average. He became the just the sixth freshman to lead the Buffaloes in stroke average and the first since Kane Webber in 1999-2000 (when he set the previous frosh best of 73.03); the others were Dale Douglass (1955-56), Blake Stirling (1970-71), Steve Jones (1977-78) and Knut Ekjord (1994-95). His 72.22 spring average was a freshman best and the fifth lowest all-time at Colorado, while his 72.93 fall stroke average, the second best on the team, was the fourth-best by a freshman (true or redshirt) for the fall in school history. His overall 72.51 was also the seventh best average in school history and the lowest in five years. He had 17 subpar rounds on the year, one shy of the school mark, and led (15) or was tied for the team lead in 20 categories. He set a CU freshman record for the best score in a 54-hole tournament with an 8-under (71-67-70—208) effort at Cal’s Alister Mackenzie Invitational, tying for seventh and breaking the old Buff frosh mark by three shots; however, it would last just one tournament as his brother Yannik broke it by a shot in UTEP’s Give ‘Em Five Invitational – but in that meet, Jeremy turned in a 65-73-71—209 scorecard to tie for sixth, thus he recorded two of the top three freshman performances in school history in back-to-back events. He then opened the spring with a 9-under 207 at the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawai’i, becoming the first player in CU history to have three straight 7-under par or better efforts in tournament play and then tie his brother again for the record, and his next time out, he turned in a 4-under 212 at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, setting a school record with four straight under par performances. In the fall, he did not have a score worse than a double bogey on a hole, and had just three in 666 holes on the year; he owned a team-best 19.2 percent figure for subpar holes (team-highs of 122 birdies and six eagles). For the year, he ranked in the nation’s top 100 in 10 categories: greens-in-regulation (7th, 72.4 percent), “ham-&egg” (12th, 12/3), eagles (20th, 6), par-4 scoring (55th, 4.06), putting par (71st, 0.96), last round average (71st, 71.58), fairways hit (74th, 69.7 percent), subpar strokes per round (75th, 3.62), birdies (86th, 122), and stroke average to par (98th, +0.76). His 10 subpar holes when recorded his 65 were tied for the second most in any round in the NCAA. He was one of four finalists for CU’s Freshman Athlete of the Year at the CUSPY Awards (CU Sports Performers of the Year).
High School—He was considered one of the top international recruits, along with his twin brother Yannik, in college golf’s 2012-13 recruiting class. Along with his brother, he helped his prep school, Albertus-Magnus Schule, to second-place finishes in Germany’s National School Team Championships in both 2011 and 2012. He had a 72.3 stroke average as a senior and a 72.6 mark as a junior. He also played soccer.
Other—2016: He reached the third and final qualifying stage for the Web.com Tour, and was in position to make the top 45 until shooting 3-over in the final round; his 71-68-72-75—286 (E) scorecard still tied him for 72nd in the field of 155 in Winter Garden, Fla. (he tied for 12th in the second stage with a 9-under 279 at Oak Valley GC in Beaumont, Calif.). He helped Germany to a 12th place finish in the World Amateur Team Championships in September, with his 72-69-74-73—288 (+2) scorecard placing him 49th individually. He made international history with his brother (Yannik) when the pair became the first twins to play in the same European Tour event, participating in the BMW International Open in their native Germany (they were also the only amateurs that qualified); he was the low amateur and tied for 56th with a 72-70-74-74—290 (+2) scorecard. He tied for 12th in the Local U.S. Open Qualifying at Wichita (Kan.) Country Club, as he shot an even-par 37-34—71. 2015: He tied for seventh in the German International Amateur (73-71-71—215), and was on the German team that tied for fourth in the European Team Championship in Halmstad, Sweden. 2014: He won the German Club championship as a member of the Mannheim-Viernheim Country Club team, a match play competition. 2013: He was the low amateur and tied for second overall in the Pro Golf Tour tournament at Glashofen-Neusass, as he finished with a 3-under 213 (68-70-75), two out of the lead; he had led by one shot heading into the final round. He tied for eighth in the Luxembourg International Amateur (78-72-68—218, his final round score the third best in the field and just one of three in the 60s). He finished 34th in the German International Amateur Championships (75-75-77-68—295; his final round 68 was the fourth lowest score of the day). 2012: A member of the German National Junior Team, he was fourth in the German Championships (71-74-70—215). 2011: He finished as the runner-up in the German Under-18 Championship, was a semifinalist in the British Boys Amateur Championship, captured third in the Harder German Junior Masters (67-73-67—207) and was fourth in the German Championships Qualifying (73-69—142, on a par-74 course). 2010: He was third in the German Championships (70-70-75—215). 2009: He was third in both the German Junior Masters (72-67-72—211) and the German Championships (72-73-70—215).
Best Career Round In Competition—65 (-7: State Team Trials, Margala, Italy, April 2011; -7: UTEP Invitational, El Paso, Texas, Oct. 26, 2013; UTEP Give ‘Em Five Invitational, Butterfield Trail Club, El Paso, Texas, Oct. 25, 2013; -7: Air Force Falcon Invitational, USAFA, Colo., Sept. 7, 2014; -6, Ballyneal Challenge, Holyoke, Colo., Sept. 8, 2015).
Academics—He graduated with a degree in Business (Operations Management) in May 2017.
Personal—He was born March 5, 1994 in Frankfurt, Germany, one minute ahead of his twin, Yannik; thus he is the “older” brother (Yannik also was a Buff for two seasons until turning pro back in Germany after his sophomore year at Colorado). His hobbies include playing soccer, working out and spending time with friends.
