AT AIR FORCE—He enrolled at the United States Air Force Academy and was slated to play baseball but transferred to Colorado before the season started.
HIGH SCHOOL—He played three seasons of varsity football for Regis, recording 290 tackles in three seasons with 16 tackles for loss including six sacks, four interceptions, 11 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one blocked punt … Regis was 28-9 in his three seasons on varsity, winning three conference championships while advancing to the state semifinals his sophomore season and state quarterfinals his junior campaign … He also had one rush for -1 yard, five receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown, one kick return for 20 yards, a total of 48 yards in interception returns for 125 all-purpose yards in his career … He scored three touchdowns, one reception, one interception return and one fumble return in his career … Had 15 total 10-tackle games in his high school career … As a senior he was the defensive MVP of the South League, honorable mention all-state and first-team All-South League when he had 135 tackles, averaging 11.3 per game, with 13 tackles for loss including five sacks, three pass breakups, one interception and one fumble recovery … Junior season Regis was 10-2 when he was first-team All-South League with 125 tackles, averaging 10.4 per game, with two for a loss including one sack, two interceptions, four pass break-ups, three forced fumbles and a blocked punt … As a sophomore, Regis was 11-2 when he had 30 tackles, including one for a loss with one interception and four pass breakups … Had a stretch of three straight games with 17-plus tackles near the start of his senior season, recording 17 against both Highlands Ranch and Mullen and 19 against Horizon … Lists his top game as the Mullen game when 12 of his 17 tackles were solo and he had five sacks, one quarterback hurry and one blocked punt, earning the CHSAA Player of the Week honor … Earned his first start as a junior against Cherry Creek, coming up with 13 tackles in a 25-20 win … In the final game of his junior season, he had a career best 20 tackles in a state quarterfinal loss to Columbine … Also played baseball at Regis, lettering four times and was a first-team all-state performer and also two-time first-team all-conference and two time Rockies Futures Game participant helping Regis to the 5A Colorado State Championship as a senior … He played 72 games of varsity baseball, hitting .397 with 95 hits, 35 RBI, 60 runs, an on base percentage of .436 and fielding percentage of .929 … As a senior, he hit .386 with 39 hits, 28 RBI, 27 runs, nine doubles, two triples and two home runs with a fielding percentage of .971 … Junior season he hit .414 with 29 hits, 12 RBI, 17 runs, eight doubles, three tripes and two home runs … Sophomore season he hit .403 with 27 hits, 13 RBI, 16 runs, three doubles, four triples and a home run.
