Career at Colorado—Burrows captained the alpine team in her final season at CU in 2013. She finished her career having competed in 47 races and finished 29 of them. She compiled eight top 20 finishes in giant slalom action including a career best 10th place finish in an RMISA Giant Slalom Qualifier race in 2012.
2013 (Sr.)—Burrows competed in all 12 races through the regular season and RMISA Championships in 2013 as a senior, and finished six of those 12 races. She saved her best performance for last with season best finished at the RMISA Championships, including 13th in the giant slalom and 22nd in the slalom race there, both just a few spots behind her career bests in both disciplines.
2012 (Jr.)—Burrows took part in all 13 races through the regular season and RMISA Championships and finished 10 of those competitions. She broke through late in the season for her first top 10 finish, bringing home 10th place in the GS race at Montana State in a RMISA Qualifier race ahead of the RMISA Championships. She had two other top 20 finishes in GS races, opening the season with a 19th place finish in a RMISA Qualifier race ahead of the University of Colorado Spencer Nelson Memorial Invitational in Eldora. She also finished 20th at the RMISA Championships. Her top slalom performance was 22nd place at the Alaska Anchorage Invitational.
2011 (Soph.)—Burrows was continuing to recover from an injury and saw action in 10 races, finishing five and claiming one top 20 finish, an 19th place finish at the Utah Invitational in the first race of the season. She finished both races at the Denver Invitational, taking 25th in the giant slalom and 21st in the slalom in her final races of the season.
2010 (Fr.)—Burrows took part in all 12 races through the RMISA Championships last season, finishing eight of them and compiling four top 20 finishes. She showed consistency, finishing between 15th and 21st in six of those eight races. Her best giant slalom performance came with a 15th place showing in the RMISA Giant Slalom qualifier that led up to the Montana State Invitational while her season best showing in the slalom came in the first such race of the season at Utah.
Club—Burrows skied for the Winter Park Ski Team growing up.
High School—Burrows graduated from Middle Park high school in Granby, Colo., in 1999, and was the individual state champion in both the slalom and giant slalom as a senior in 2009 while earning first-team All-State honors. She was named the citizen-athlete of the year for Middle Park as a senior and also earned the award for the Best Season and Best Comeback. She fractured her skull in 2008 and was not able to participate. In her sophomore season in 2007, she earned first-team All-State in skiing. She was member of the school’s Gold Honor Roll all four years in high school and also played forward in soccer and was a sprinter for the track team. She earned first-team All-State in track & field in 2007 as a sophomore, qualifying in the 1,600-meter relay. She earned the Offensive MVP as a freshman and was a first-team All-League soccer player for Middle Park, as well.
In the Classroom—Burrows graduated in 2013 with a degree in integrative physiology at Colorado.
Personal—Khyla Burrows was born on October 3, 1990 to Jeff and Lynn Burrows of Winter Park, Colo. Burrows has a younger sister, Rylee. She chose to pursue her collegiate skiing career at Colorado because it’s close to home, a great school. After college, Burrows hopes to be a neurologist at Children’s Hospital.
