2010 Spring (sophomore): Earned the team's most improved honor award • Saw action for the first time in singles match play at the No. 6 position • In doubles, picked up her first collegiate dual match victory teaming with Melisa Esposito at No. 3 helping the Buffaloes sweep the doubles point over Missouri (Apr. 3).
2009 Fall (sophomore): Won five singles matches •Earned a trio of victories at the USAFA Invitational (Oct. 1-3) and another pair at the CU Invite (Sept. 25-27) • In doubles, recorded an impressive seven of eight match victories • Won three of four with Michala Hedelund Jensen in the consolation round of the CU Invite and another pair with Erin Sanders at the USAFA Invite • Picked up solo victories with Allison Wahba and teamed with Wyoming's Paloma Navarro for another one at the USAFA Invite.
2009 Spring (freshman): Did not play.
2008 Fall (freshman): Began her initial season winning five doubles and three singles matches • At the Air Force Invitational (Oct. 3-4), won a pair of doubles wins • In singles, won her first collegiate tennis match defeating Carolina Chaix (Wyoming, 6-2, 7-6(3) at the Colorado Invitational (Sept. 19-21) • Also defeated opponents from Tulsa at the AFA Invite and UC Irvine at the San Diego State Fall Classic (Nov. 7-9).
Personal: Born Madalyn Diane Kern on March 18, 1990 in Boulder, Colo. • Daughter of Joseph and Carolyn Kern • Mother played softball at Bowling Green University • Hobbies include playing the piano • Aspirations of becoming a bio-medical engineer after college • Was a gymnast for eight years and reached level eight when nine-years-old • Enjoys participating in community service activities traveling to Mexico, twice helping in the building of houses for families in need.
Broomfield HS: Four-year tennis letterwinner, also played volleyball • Proudest moment of high school was placing third at the Girls Tennis State Championships Tournament • Northern Conference Athlete of the Year recipient • Two-time Northern Conference All-Conference selection • First place at No. 1 singles regional meet and placed third at No. 1 singles state meet; also placed second at No. 1 singles regional meet sophomore and junior years • Also earned leadership tennis award senior year • Salutatorian of Class of 2008 • Eight-time honor role recipient • Academic Team Champions during senior and junior years, President's Education Award winner, Two-time Academic Team Champion, Two-time Super Kid Award winner, and member of the National Honors Society.
