As a Sophomore in 2017
Joachim saw action in 11 matches this season. She added extra height at the net, recording 5 total blocks on the season for the Buffs. Her best performance came in the match against Abilene Christian (9/3), where she recorded four total attacks and one block. She also saw action in the team’s 3-0 win over James Madison in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Joachim recorded one kill in the match to help the Buffs advance to the Sweet 16 round of the tournament for the first time in 20 years.
As a Redshirt Freshman in 2016
Joachim played in six matches for the Buffs (11 sets), making her debut against Texas Tech (8/26). She did not play in the following five contests, but was on the court in the next three matches. She did not record a stat against UC Irvine (9/10), but posted one block against Chicago State (9/16). The following match against New Orleans (9/17) saw Joachim tallying two kills while adding another block assist. She earned a season-best three kills against Southern California (10/29) and also played against Arizona State (11/23). Joachim recorded five kills, two digs and two blocks during the season.

High School
Joachim has had a great prep career for Lakeshore High School, earning four letters as a pin hitter and setter. The Lancers recorded a 30-18-2 record during her senior year and as a junior, they finished the season 33-11-3. A 2014-15 AVCA Under Armour Third-Team All-American, she recorded 419 kills, 82 blocks, 281 digs and 55 assists in 117 sets in 2015.
Joachim has also been a part of the USA Volleyball pipeline. In 2012, Joachim was a member of the USAV Girls Youth Continental team that competed at the USAV High Performance Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. During the 2013 and ‘14 seasons, she was a member of the USA Junior A1 Red Team that won the women’s international junior division.
A top-10 finalist for Miss Michigan volleyball, Joachim was named a PrepVolleyball.com Senior Ace (#87), Fab 50 Junior, Sophomore 79 honorable mention and Frosh 59 honorable mention selection. As a junior, she was a second-team all-state and all-conference honoree, and earned all-region honors. Joachim was an all-district selection her sophomore year. A top recruit, Joachim was pursued by UCLA, Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee, Ball State, Syracuse, TCU, Penn State, Old Miss and San Diego State.
Personal
Taylor Joachim was born on March 24, 1997 in St. Joseph, Michigan. She is the daughter of Ralf and Deb, who played volleyball at Grand Valley State, Joachim. She has one younger sibling, Bailey, who also plays volleyball. Joachim enjoys making jewelry, drawing, sculpting and hiking. She also has her own business making wood and acrylic pens since she was in sixth grade. She made the pens for family and friends and also sold them at a local gift shop.
Academics
Joachim is a strategic communication major and is pursuing a minor in technology arts and media. Her GPA is greater than 3.10. She was a member of the honor roll all four years of high school and is also a member of the National Honor Society.
