University of Colorado student-athlete, Julia Sarcona, a senior attacker on the women's lacrosse team, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 after an automobile accident west of Boulder. She was 21.

JUNIOR (2017): Sarcona played in two games as a reserve attacker, recording one assist and one groundball against Stetson on Feb. 19.
 
SOPHOMORE (2016): Sarcona played in three games as a reserve attacker, scoring two goals on two shots. She scored on a free-position shot in her first appearance of the season in a 15-3 win over Central Connecticut on March 5. She also scored in a 23-0 win over Saint Mary’s (Calif.) on April 15.
 
FRESHMAN (2015): In her first year with the Buffs, Sarcona played in six games, making her debut in the first game of the 2015 season against University of Denver. She tallied her first and only assist of the season against Presbyterian and helped the Buffs take a 19-0 win.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Sarcona played both lacrosse (attack) and volleyball (outside hitter) at Northport. In lacrosse, Sarcona and Northport had an amazing season, posting a perfect 14-0 record while winning the Suffolk County, Long Island and New York State Championships. The team went 11-3 in 2012 and 9-5 in 2013. Sarcona helped the team to a 10-4 record as a senior, earning all-league honors. She spent six years with the Long Island Yellow Jackets lacrosse club, which won the U-15 National Championship in 2012.
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Sarcona was a public relations major who interned in CU's Sports Information Office.
 
PERSONAL: Julia Francesca Sarcona was born in Huntington, N.Y., on June 30, 1996 to parents Joseph and Alessandra Sarcona.
