SENIOR (2015): Paxton started 11 of 18 matches as a forward for CU, scoring two goals and assisting on four others. Her eight points were third-best on the team and she also attempted 16 shots, including nine on goal. She totaled 1,026 minutes of playing time. Her first goal of the season came in a 3-0 win over Colorado College on Aug. 23. Paxton also added assists in wins over New Mexico and Villanova. Perhaps the most memorable match of her career came on Sept. 27. She earned the assist on a game-tying goal by Brittney Stark in the first half and then scored the game-winning goal on a header off a corner kick in overtime to beat No. 14 California 2-1. For her efforts in that match, she was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week and CU Female Athlete of the Week. Paxton also assisted on a goal in a 3-3 draw with No. 25 Arizona on Oct. 30.
 
JUNIOR (2014): Paxton played an important role off the bench, contributing to the Buffs’ offense with two goals and two assists. She competed in all 22 matches, accruing 980 minutes and made three starts, two against non-conference opponents, UNLV and Kent State in the UNLV Nike Invitational and one versus Pac-12 foe, Stanford. She also took the pitch in both NCAA Tournament matches. Paxton was tied for fifth on the team with 18 shots and put 10 one frame. She tallied her two goals against Detroit and San Francisco and recorded assists in back-to-back matches at home versus Arizona and Utah.
 
SOPHOMORE (2013): Paxton was an important substitute as a sophomore, playing in all 23 games, totally 1,006 minutes. She made seven starts, including all of the Buffs’ NCAA Tournament games. She took 28 shots, sending 17 on goal. Paxton shined during the Omni Hotels Colorado Women’s Soccer Classic. She scored her first goal of the season in the 78th minute of CU’s 4-0 shutout of Stony Brook. In the next game, she took a season-high four shots in just 24 minutes playing time against UNLV. She was an important part of the Buffs’ run to the Sweet 16, scoring the first goal against No. 19 BYU in the Round of 32 to help the Buffs to an eventual 2-1 victory.

FRESHMAN (2012): Paxton made an impressive debut, contributing an assist in the Buffs’ season opener against Northern Colorado (3-0). Paxton played in 19 games, made three starts and tied for third on the team with two goals. She scored with just eight minutes remaining in regulation to send the Pac-12 home opener against Washington into overtime. In a tough 2-1 loss to defending NCAA Champions Stanford, Paxton gave the Buffs the upper hand right before the break.  

HIGH SCHOOL: Paxton was a first-team all-state and all-division selection and earned Division 5a2 Player of the Year honors her senior year at Boulder Creek High School in Anthem, Ariz. That season she was the captain of the 16-4 Jaguars, and had 13 assists and a school season record of 33 goals. Paxton played club soccer with SC Del Sol out of Phoenix. The club won the 2012 state title and earned a bid to the Elite Club National League national championship. SC Del Sol also won a state title in 2010 and a Women’s Premier Soccer League title in 2011. Prior to SC Del Sol, Paxton was a member of the Sereno Soccer Club, where she won six consecutive state titles. In 2009, the club won the Far West Regional League title and became a Region IV finalist.

IN THE CLASSROOM: Paxton’s major at Colorado is communication. She is also interested in marketing, public relations and sports broadcasting.

PERSONAL: Her full name is Emily Alexandra Paxton. She was born October 23, 1994 to Sean and Jessica Paxton. Her father played football for Fort Lewis College. She has two younger brothers named Connor and Luke. She enjoys hanging out with friends, going to sporting events and doing outdoor activities. She has family in Colorado and looks forward to experiencing the state’s seasonal changes.
