BOULDER - University of Colorado men’s tennis coach Sam Winterbotham has been selected as a member of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Region VII Committee, announced Friday.

Winterbotham will be one of six members representing the Mountain Region. There are eight regions in the nation that represent college tennis and CU is one of 16 other colleges in the mountain region.

There is no specified length of the term for Winterbotham, who enters his second year with the Buffaloes.

“I am honored and excited about representing the University of Colorado in the Mountain Region,” Winterbotham said. “It’s a great opportunity for me to learn more about the issues within our region, then helping the membership deal with them.”

This past fall, the CU men advanced to the regional team playoff where they fell to host Boise State, 4-0 on Nov. 15 in the four-team event. The Buffaloes open the dual spring season January 24 against Northern Colorado and at its brand new CU-Boulder South Campus Tennis Courts.
