BOULDER - Friends of former University of Colorado wrestling coach Mike Sager have created a unique fundraiser to raise money for the former star Oklahoma athlete's battle with colon cancer.

Invitations have been mailed for "A Non-Dinner" on December 22, 2003, asking those who wish to help to NOT attend a "very special fundraiser, buy a dress, rent a tux or hire a babysitter," and to just send in a donation to help Mike with his fight and for those who donate to spent time that evening with the ones they love.

Sager was an NCAA champion wrestler at Oklahoma, claiming in the 137-pound weight class title in 1964.  He earned three letters at OU, after a stellar prep career at Tulsa's McLain High School.

After two-year runs as wrestling coach at both Marshall and Cincinnati, Sager found his way to Boulder where he would coach the Buffaloes into a top-20 caliber team between 1974-80.  He went into real estate in the Boulder area after wrestling was one of seven sports eliminated on June 11, 1980, due to budget cuts.

Diagnosed with the colon cancer two years ago, he has undergone both chemotherapy and multiple surgeries.  Friends of Sager in the Boulder real estate community recently started the fundraising drive, as options for future treatment has diminished and the cancer and continued on a destructive course.  Though married and the father of three, Sager hasn't
asked for financial help but a huge financial burden has been placed on the family.

Those who wish to contribute can send a donation to the Sager Family Fund, c/o Wright Kingdom Realty, 4875 Pearl Street East Circle Suite 100, Boulder, CO 80301.  For more information, call Dan Kingdom at 303-541-1924 or e-mail him at dkingdom@wkre.com.
