Buffs Lose Big 12 Match to the Aggies
March 14, 2003
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 70 nationally ranked Colorado men's tennis team lost its third straight Big 12 Conference match at No. 11-ranked Texas A&M, 6-1, Thursday evening at the A&M Tennis Center.
Colorado falls to 2-9 overall and to 0-3 in the Big 12, while the Aggies improve to 12-5 overall and to 1-0 in Big 12 play. The win marked the sixth straight for A&M.
"I give Colorado a lot of credit," A&M coach Tim Cass said. "They played loose and free. They played well mentally and they really, really challenged us. All in all, I'm proud about being able to beat them 6-1 because they played well and showed great effort."
The lone highlight for the Buffs was Maciej Dilaj's (at No. 1) upset victory over Texas A&M's senior All-American, Ryan Newport. Dilaj beat Newport 7-6, 2-6, 6-2.
The next test for the Buffs comes at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 15 where they will face the Texas Longhorns in Austin.
