HOUSTON, Texas - The Colorado men's tennis team upset its first opponent of the season defeating No. 63 Louisiana-Lafayette, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in a match played at the University of Rice.

The Buffaloes won their fourth in a row improving to 6-12, while the Ragin' Cajuns fall to 8-8. The match originally scheduled last month in Boulder was canceled due to inclement weather, was rescheduled as part of a weekend doubleheader at Rice.

CU received straight-set winners from Justin Hunter, Bucky Mink, and Chad Tsuda in addition to the doubles point to claim the one point victory. Hunter and Tsuda won their ninth match of the spring at No. 1 doubles taking an 8-5 winner, and at No. 3, Marko Bundalo and Jon Magnes remained unbeaten (5-0) with an 8-6 decision.

With a 1-0 lead, CU continued its drive for the upset with Hunter winning 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles; Mink was 6-2, 7-5 winner at No. 4; and at No. 5 Tsuda took a 6-2, 7-6(7) winner to clinch the match for CU.

"Chad was down a break in the second set, but he kept hitting shots under pressure," said CU head coach Sam Winterbotham. "Justin (Hunter) has played so well for us all year competing at No. 1 and No. 2. It's starting to show in the way he plays as a top college player."

The Buffaloes look for their fifth straight victory on Sunday, April 13 when they take on No. 33 Rice at 10 a.m.
